Scout spare wheel.

Featured Replies

Hello.. I recently bought a used Scout, and am generally very pleased with it. I would like to replace the gunk tube with an actual spare wheel but am confused with the sizing. My Scout has 17" wheels and I read on here some variants come with big brakes causing a fit problem.

Which spare wheel would best fit, a spacesaver or a full alloy? Thanks.

For 17" inch wheels, you can buy a full sized steel spare. For 18" and above its space savers. You can buy it all as a kit (about 280 quid) or buy the wheel and tyre kit separately.

I just sold a space saver, went for a full size, but only because i didn't want to get stuck towing.

I tow a caravan also, so a full size is probably the way to go.

Ye, i really thought about it.

Its bad enough only doing 60mph, then having to only do 50mph. Then trying to find somewhere to sort out puncture. At least you could get on holiday or back home, then sort it.

I managed to get a spare wheel the same as what is on the car already.

I bought a 195/60/16 spare wheel from a Yeti, it works out very close, (good enough to get you out of trouble), to the 225/50/17 on the Scout. Think I paid £60 and had never been on a car. And I'm hoping it never does!!!
