upgrading from MIB2 to MIB2.5 - can I just change the display and 'flash' the main headunit to v2.5?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a feeling @pab567 will know the answer here :D

are there any online discussions detailing how the main harman headunit of an MIB2  can be updated to be 2.5? or do I actually have to buy the 2.5 main unit also?

ive updated the software on my MIB2 already from MHI2_ER_SKG11_P3260 to the most recent supported on that train

Unfortunately it's not a simple flash - unit must be hacked (EEPROM), eMMC must be re-partitioned... definitely not a piece of cake...

Thanks, once it's done is it inferior in any way to a "true" mib2.5, or just as good in every way? And do you know anyone who can do this as a service, or point me to a forum where the hack is discussed? Thanks again!
