Locking the car from the outside while engine is running.

Featured Replies

Hello,

sometimes I have to go outisde of the car for a few minutes while the engine is running. I would feel more comfortable knowing that nobody can drive away with it

if it were locked.

Thus, I would like to know if there is a way (why shouldn't there be one?) to lock the car from the outside while the engine is running.

I have the kessy option, but tried both to touch the locking pad on the door's handle as well as press the lock button on the keyfob to no

avail.

Has anyone a tip to share?

Hi, my understanding is that it's actually illegal to leave the engine running while the driver is not in or near the vehicle.

Thanks but the car is not a Bristish one, thus it is under a different legal system.

Thus in Scandinavia, Switzerland (basically European countries with very cold Winters), it is customary to  start the car parked in front of the house and leave

the engine running for a few minutes in the morning while the car is locked. Hence my question ;-)

You might be able to remove the cover on the end of the handle to reveal the keyhole and Bob's your uncle.

It seems doable with some coding on the SS3

There seem to be an even nicer trick for all Kessy equiped cars.

As soon as the key leaves the car, it locks itself automatically

Ross-tech has some further explanations.

Thus it can also be used to lock automatically the car when exiting it and engine switched  off ;-)

could be your aunty nowerdays.

What happens if you walk away with the fob?

My works Connect has keyless ignition and is auto box, if I start van, take key into house the engine still runs but gear selector is locked so can't be driven.

No idea if it works on the manual version or if Kessy is similar?
