OBD Eleven, Carista or a.n.other ?

Featured Replies

Would appreciate users opinions here.   I want to get an OBD device to read and clear faults that are associated with the engine management light mainly to see if I need to take them seriously or not!

Never want to code anything, but if there are simple setting changes, which I may be interested in, I would perhaps like that option. At the same time I am  worried that if I activate something and then change my mind I could (m)uck things up!

I have a 2016 L&K if that helps in your suggestions but which device should I go for.

Oh should have said want to spend less than £100.

Many thanks

I bought Carista to make a couple of minor tweaks and investigate my TPM niggle. It came up with a persistent ABS code that didn't appear when serviced so I suspect it was a false positive.

In the end I only used it to turn on rear DRLs and the headlight LED whiskers.

In hindsight I'd have gone for the OBD11 to make more detailed tweaks.

I also have a 16 L&K.

Not sure about the other options but I used Carista for several coding changes on both mine and my wife’s cars and it was only about £50 all in I think for the dongle and a years sub. The price has gone up recently I think but still well under the £100.

I believe obd11 is very good and also smartphone based but have no experience or pricing info on that.

I now have VCDS so have let the Carista expire though the dongle is good for other free apps for logging things like 0-60 runs etc

I'm another satisfied Carista user; I've used it for brake pad changes and coding tweaks on a couple of cars. It cost £30 for the dongle last autumn which included a month's subscription to the full app and was the cheapest option at the time.
