Heated seats automatically on

Featured Replies

Bit of an odd one here and very rare but sometimes when starting the car the passenger seat is already on max.

I know if you drive, stop then return it remembers, but today it happened and last time I drove it was a week ago

Very odd and so rare i’m not too fussed, unless someone else has had this and found the problem

The last three superbs I have owned have had to have the seats switched on manually . Sorry I can’t help you.

I’ve never had that problem.

When my superb -17 was delivered the heating was reset everytime the car was locked, didn't have a memory at all as I recall it.

But - later I added the memory function with OBD-11. The function exists but on at least my car it wasn't active from factory.

When I bought my car, the driver's seat defaulted to switching on the seat heating to the setting you had when you turned off the engine if you restarted the car for up to 15 minutes but the passenger seat reset itself to off every time the engine was switched off.  I had the passenger seat altered by vcds to the same setting as the driver's seat.

I believe you can chose various time delays to turn the heated seats back on, but does anyone know what's the maximum time you can change this setting to and can you change it to remember the setting with no time limit?

Now there's an interesting thing to tinker with if anyone has a link?

It could be a low cranking voltage glitch, possible weakening battery. I have a similiar issue where my heated steering wheel comes on and it’s due to my weakening battery.

I got a member in South Wales with vcds to change it (together with a number of other changes) in return for some beer money.

I'm not confident about making the changes myself.

for heated seat memory:

08-Auto HVAC. Adaptation. IDE01067-Retention of driver’s seat heater level From Active for 10 minutes to Active
En 08-Auto HVAC. Adaptation. IDE07948-Retention of frt.pass. seat heater level. From not active to active for 10 minutes or Active

That works as expected just rarely it’s still turned on despite the car being turned off for a week

That’s most likely it as it’s when I leave the car for ages. I’ve only done around 6k miles in 4 years and once a year it goes on a 4 hour holiday drive. Other than that sits on my drive thinking “who has bought me...” 😀

I have a battery monitor on my car. When the voltage dips to 8.5v or lower on initial crank the heated steering wheel comes on automatically  during the crank. Anything above 8.5v it doesn’t. So definitely a battery/voltage issue in my case anyway.

Varta AGM battery 4 years and 114k miles. A bit disappointing. My fathers 14 year old car still on original battery! Still starts even if left sitting for a week!
