Shocks

Featured Replies

Just had my mechanic booked to change the  front shocks on my VRS with Bilstein B4 ( 22 132  614 ) shocks However these shocks are the wrong ones. The top of the original shock damper rod has a step down ( dia)  that fits into the top mount ?

I can't see any Bilstein B4 shock absorbers with part number 22-132614

Do you mean 22-131614 ?

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/shock-absorber-10221/skoda/octavia/octavia-1z3/26623-2-0-tdi-rs?supplier[0]=16&criteria[100]=VA

What is the diameter of the original shock absorber rod that fits into the top mount?

And what is the diameter of the Bilstein B4 shock absorber rod that fits into the top mount?

It maybe that they are the same, but that the original shock absorber rod is a bigger diameter that the B4 replacement shock absorbers.

Take a look at the photos of the B6 shock absorbers in the above link. You will see that the B6 has a larger rod diameter than the B4, except at the top where the B6 has a step down to fit into the top mount.

Yes typo error. Should be 22-131614

I’ve spoken to Bilstein and sent photos etc as they do not  list alternative in B4 ?

The Bilstein B4 shock supplied Rod diameter is 25.5 mm. I do not have the measurement for the Oem one.

Bilstein have got back to me saying that they have never seen a Oem shock like this.

Yes the B6 looks like it has a stepdown.

As my top mount also needs replacing im going to cut my losses and go Oem.

after searching nearly every web site for Octavia 2 front shocks pictures, i can not find any thing similar to mine. Bilstein uk were right ! Hopefully my main Skoda dealer can help solving this ?

are your current ones definitely  oem? if a previous owner cganged them already they might not have gone with original parts..

bought the car with only 3 k on the clock. First registered to Skoda uk.

It looks like the OEM part number for Octavia MK2 vRS front shock absorbers is 1J0413031CM

22A 1J0413031CM shock absorbers
for sports suspension

Model data: PR-G85

If the car has build code G85, then this is the OEM part number. You can also look for an OEM part number on the original front shock absorbers.

visited my Skoda main dealer, and bought a set of VRS (2uc) front shocks identical to mine plus matching Top mounts/bearings. Do not know why Bilstein have no listing for these. Now have a set of new Bilstein front shocks to find home for

What is the OEM part number of the new shocks from the Skoda dealer? Is it 1J0413031CM ?

Strange how you have had a problem fitting the shocks. I have just fitted a set of Bilstein B4 to my 2010 VRS TDi without any problems.

The online parts catalogue lists two OEM numbers for the front shock absorbers on the Octavia MK2 VRS 2011

According to autodoc 1T0413031HP can be replaced with either Bilstein B4 22-139191 or Bilstein B4 22-183729.

1T0 413 031 HP

1T0 413 031 JD

1T0 413 031 Q

Notice that only two OEM numbers are listed against both Bilstein B4 front shock absorbers above, which would suggest that they are significantly different from each other. They are both described as 55mm outside strut diameters, so that's not different.

There are often mistakes in these listings, which further complicates matters.

According to the online catalogue on the bilstein.com/uk/en website, Bilstein B4 22-139191 can replace 1T0413031HP and B4 22-183729 can replace 1T0413031HK

bilstein.com/uk/en

If you buy them in pairs, they are both available for about £56 each (ie. £112 for two) on ebay.

When i sent photos off to Bilstein showing the Oem ones fitted to my Vrs they said never seen this type before so i didn't pursue the their sports version. As my Top mounts needed replacing i also went for Oem front struts as to be fair Skoda prices are not that to expensive relatively. Hopefully i can sell the standard Vrs ones online etc. Thanks for all the info.

Another question I should have asked as now that I’ve replaced a lot of suspension parts do the rear upper shock mounts suffer with wear ? At least I could do these myself if needed

  • 2 weeks later...

thread hijack....

ive had a broken rear spring for a while (only the pigtail at the top so just a bit off...)

looking at new ones based on the colour coding  of 1 white 1 yellow, for a 1.6diesel hatchback, 7zap says they are 1k0511115 BD springs, but parts websites with my reg i  say "not compatible should be BE variant springs. i doubt they been changed from factory already so.... BD and feck the websites or BE.

i out my vin into 7zap and it says it doesnt exist...

Are they currently the same - 1 white, 1 yellow  spot on both sides of the car?

VIN won't do anything in 7zap as it's not official and not connected to anywhere that knows anything about your VIN, AFAIK.

only checked the unbroken side, as i didnt want to disturb the broken one jacking that side up to check.
