Kia EV 6

Featured Replies

Since pre-launch info is starting to come out about the EV6 I thought I'd start a topic for news and info about it.  Here's a couple of videos about it.  Shows some shots of the outside and interior, it looks nicer than the Ioniq 5 but would need to sit in it to see what it was really like.

Nice. The interior looks much better than usual Asian cars.

Certainly looks to be well ahead of any VW or Skoda offering. It will be interesting to see how the price looks for a 4 wheel drive, big battery option.

Surely it can live up to the hopes, wishes and needs of an efficient EV.

Time will tell on real trips with the car loaded and in cold weather.

Maybe Subscribe on Youtube.

I went to the local 'unveiling' last night and was happy to say it looked just as good in the flesh as in the videos/photos.

The EV 'Guru' seemed to spend a long time focussing on why EV car buyers shouldn't have range anxiety. He mentioned there was 8380 petrol stations in the UK and approximately double that number of EV charging locations.

Maybe he forgot that petrol stations usually have more pumps that charging stations have chargers? He also said that Tesla was opening up their network to Kia but I seem to recall it was going to be opening to everyone? Is that right?

The ability for the car to charge other cars or use external 240v devices came up - maybe nice to have but how many times will that get used?

Anyway that aside, the car does look impressive - especially in the matt grey/silver metallic colour of this pre-release version. The rear seats made my knees raise up more than normal due to the batteries but not overly concerned as I don't normally sit there......

One other techy thing I noted was that, when the car had stopped and people were about to exit, the blind spot monitor will disable the door handles if traffic is approaching - not heard of the feature before.

Nearly forgot to mention - food & drinks were available plus a ‘£350 sign on the day' discount. I think I'd rather wait until the demo car arrives!

The photos complete with smoke machine dramatics. 👍

I drove one a couple of weeks back. They just gave us the keys and let us have it.

Got a couple more to drive next week but I’ll put comments up once I can compare a few EV.

General so far, good but a few odd/niggly bits.

its a real good looking car is that EV6

Third time now I have seen an EV6 on a 7kW charger at Tesco having been left by a driver to charge.  Each time the cars having not been getting a charge as either full or the charger cut out.  Today I asked the driver if the car was full or the charger had cut out.  He said he expected it was full.     The thing is he has left and the charger is now out of service.  This is as it was with the last 2 EV6,s after they left.   No idea if they are causing the chargers to trip or not or a coincidence.  I suspect they are causing the charger to trip.

Very long cars.

Be interesting to see if there's a firmware update, as I wouldn't want to be behind one if they are actually causing issues.

I'm sure pod-point is one of the Kia recommended suppliers too, so if it's taking out their chargers that's not ideal.
