Wax on Wax off

Featured Replies

Having had my car for 7 weeks and not being able to drive too far and being absolutely bored to death working from home. I have washed the car once a week and applied a full coat of wax. 7 coats of Autoglym aqua wax and a combination of Simoniz plus one coat of Autoglym ceramic coating. The beading is a joy to behold.

She gleams for sure but is this excessive and does it over protect or damage?

Some will say " ye cannay wax a new car as the paint needs time to cure" This is BS in new paint techniques but happy to hear what you guys think.

The car was built / painted weeks ago and left the factory with protective covers and then transported and then prepped at the Dealership, the paint is far from new.

@Greezy56If you’re that bored, can you come and do mine?   Sorry, just had to be said 😂

Would love to mate , i enjoy detailing but Hampshire is just a bit too far under Nicola's rules.  Hampshire does sound nice , i did, years ago travel to Poole. Nice bit of the country and did some driving about to various other wee towns.

Seven layers seems excessive. Never used Aqua wax so no idea on curing times or anything between coats.

If you're not driving much, I'd suggest save your wax for every third/fourth wash at least! Maintenance washes will be fine and it'll still bead beautifully. Or carry on as you are, as I understand the therapeutic benefit of wash and wax!
