Who has the most powerful Fabia?

Featured Replies

Just wondering.

I'm pretty sure at the moment I don't have the fastest road going Fabia on briskoda / in the UK. But wondered what sort of target I need to achieve that?

With 1.8T conversion in Europe, I'm pretty sure I won't have the most powerful in Europe / World - but kind of like the idea of having the most powerful Fabia in the UK. Its like some kind of reward for all the effort thats gone into my project.

Any thoughts? Lots will depend on the results of the LPG though,

Excluding WRC/Rally efforts? ;)

 I thought of that during the typing hence my "road going" little add-in, :D

I guess I should say "production Fabia"

I think it could be the fastest. It certainly is the smokiest. I hope you didnt vote for the green party last week

TBH i always find it a little disconcerting to judge yourself against others, of course everyone would always love to have the biggest/best/fastest/longest whatever, but you should really just take a step back and ask yourself what would satisfy you, what that limit would be.

because as in life, there is always someone that goes that little bit further than you, or as my Dad put it to me, "I dont care how hard you think you are, someone will always put you on your ar$e"and to constantly compete with those people is going to start costing you telephone numbers.

I think now that vRS's and fabias in general are getting cheaper you will start to see a fair few 20 valvers popping up soon, and then your talking 3-400 bhp fabias, which i dont think would be a nice experience.

I think you and me Mr BigW could be going head to head during the year. :D

how is your a production Fabia? can we buy one the same as yours?

:D my fabia is as the day it came out the factory, apart from the magic tree of course ;)

Too much reading of SWMBO's psychology books methinks :D, i think i have just been in the situation in the past where i have strived to have the biggest/best/furthest whatever and found it a physically and a monetary draining experience,

What i mean is, take a 130 vRS standard motor, add a remap, exhaust, filter say all in total

what you gotta keep in mind whilst spending these bucks on the car, it doesnt really add to the resale value of the motor, if anything it does the opposite so makes it false economy.

I dont think he ever thought it did. He's doing it because he wants to. Just look at what he started with and what he's got now. The resale value does not come into it at all

 - I reckon Jason's (and mine too :o ) have gone firmly past the point of spending sensible money to get a decent improvement in performance :D

(there are loads more Fabias owned out there which have been fettled no doubt, and probably to MUCH larger extents :D )

Spent far too much on the car already now, will likely be spending some more though.

I'm not going for all-out performance, and I wouldn't be able to put up with the smoke screen coming out of Jason's car (although it's great fun  )

My SWMBO wouldn't appreciate it ;)

I'm looking at LPG but mainly as it could help with my cost per mile - of course I won't complain about extra torque/bhp either though :D

All kinda depends if my insurance company just laughs or accepts it, will be interesting to find this out :)

That wasnt a direct point towards Jason, it was simply highlighting the fact that in the coming years when fabias do become priced as "Disposable car's" we will see more and more powerful ones cropping up, So the resale value does come into my point, Thanks for your question caller ;)

Once you get the LPG and diff you may have a drivable contender

LPG? hmm

I work in a pub, of which the drinkers are of a highly educated manor (i work in a posh little village). They talk about topical mannors etc. Just the other week they were talking about fuel price rises and LPG.

Now the jist of the chat was that there was a 10year tax limit on LPG to get it under way, and that it had gone past 10years now, or will do shortly. Thus due to follow a massive hike in LPG cost, and they believed it would reach the £1 a litre mark also.

Now this could be just educated speculation, or me miss hearing things, but i can see the logic too, diesel was ment to be the way forward and benifical to the enviroment and therefore was cheaper, but now look at it?

I personally (granted i dont know the full story and facts) dont think LGP is the way to go, unless a conversion is for performance increases, not on fuel cost savings>?

Am i wrong?

For me it is purely performance. Any other savings etc will just be an added benefit. I would hope on long motorway stints, the economy will be good as it should cruise at half a bar with a small amount of lpg going in to help consumption efficiency.

Tell you what lets do this as a percentage increase over standard power for that engine. So basically then my fabia should be 100bhp, but is 150bhp (155 at jabba). Thats a 50% increase, so a vRS needs 215bhp+ to match that increase......

I think you are all mad, mad I say:confused:

Is it the 'kudos' of having a fast, traditionally rubbish car?

Or is it the 'look at me' syndrome?

IMHO, Jason is as mad as a box of frogs anyway ( yes I've met him ) he would probably have modified his pram!!

This is not meant to be a pop at anyone, I just get lost beyond arbs, and mine seems fast enough for my limited ability.

I wee myself if I drive too fast:O

Judging by your avatar Graham. You appear to have done so.....on your bonnet!!

Its 195bhp to match that. Sorry Andy to pick on your maths. Its just I'm at 220 and I know I'm a wee bit more than 50% over standard power. I'll be as happy as a pig in mucky brown smelly stuff with 100% over standard at the end of the day,

Oh and I don't think LSD should come into this. That may have to wait a while anyway.... Its simply max engine power, even if I'm less able to put it all down. :)

Jason check you maths a 50% of 145 bhp is 72.5 and this to 145 and you get 217.5 to be pedantic! :D-

Sorry - I thought you meant you'd achieved 50% over your standard of 100bhp, and for me to achieve the same would need 215. :D But 50% of 130 is only 65 bhp so thought 195 would be the same comparative % over standard.

You meant 50% over remapped pd100 power.

going off point of the thread but how come i pay
CO2 emissions are lower on diesels, but they still pump out plenty of carcinogens, etc...

And that's just the standard ones! Remapped they chuck out even more! ;)

Chris

Hi,

I understand that LPG will increase the performance of Jasons VRS but does it have potential to cut down emissions. My thoughts are that it would combust far quicker than diesel leaving the same emissions. It doesn't have a catalytic effect of burning the 'soot' off, or does it?

Would appreciate some comments.

Best wishes
