hello all, i have  got a 2008 fabia 1.4tdi with central locking problems. does anyone have any ideas, cheers

Your "issue" is a bit vague in description to be honest...........

If you want help, try and give us as much / more info as possible.........On a side note, most likely broken wires between the door and A pillar inside the door boot.

sorry. the central locking is locking and unlocking on its own. if i lock using the button on the centre console then get out and lock drivers door it behaves better for longer but then starts again

Bump, my mk1 has similar problems on occasion. I think its due in part to the lock on the drivers door being worn. Put another way, I can unlock my mk1 with my mk2's key, or a house key, or anything that sortof looks like a key. I could probably open it with a library card if I tried.

Reminded me of my brother's old Ford Escort, when he locked the door by pushing down the internal pin and shutting the door, prior to realising he left his key in the ignition. He was at a pub restaurant at the time and spotted another Escort so found  the driver to ask him to unlock it with his key. Worked easily!

Does sound like the barrel may be worn, though. Most modern cars won't suffer this so much as remotes tend to  get used but older cars did.

You may need to source a new barrel and if done from a main dealer, you can possibly get a proper matched one. This will benefit from giving you a spare key, despite being a little more expensive.

Spare key would be enticing. I only got one key and apparently its the spare key. No buttons except for a big one for a little light I believe

Not sure about that. I have two remote fobs, three buttons on each to open, lock and pop the tailgate. Then I have a spare valet key, which is just a blade and won't start the car, just open the doors.
