Is 210k miles a lot for a 2.0 TDI BKD 16v?

Featured Replies

Hello guys! I'm asking you for some advice on buying an mk2 2007 Octavia. I looked at the car and it was all right for the most part, but it was a little low on engine oil and it started up a little funny (started motor problem I think, it sounded like it didn't disengage at exactly the moment the engine starts). The engine is 2.0 tdi bkd 140 hp and it has 210k miles on the clock. The car drove good. Do you think 210k is too much for a BKD?

Depends on the price, Ive got the BKD engine in mine, Mk 2 2005 and has done 126000, They seem to be very good engines, . Check when the timing belt / waterpump was last done, And check if it has any service history, Regular oil changes with a good quality oil is very important on these. Check for any nasty noises when engine is running.. And make sure the turbo is ok, They get sooted up and cause overboost problems, Putting the car into limp mode....

The owner has the service history for the last two years. The car had a new clutch and flywheel in february 2021. The timing belt and water pump was done at 204k in dec 2019. He's done various other things...worth about 1500 pounds in the last 2 years.

Check for rust/corrosion underneath. There is a recent post on here where the rear suspension arms completely failed. I have a 2007 1.9 PD which received an advisory on the MOT this year but is only minor surface rust not corrosion.
