I have just watched an informative Youtube video explaining the reasons why the inlet valves of TSI engines suffer from carbon buildup.   It didn't state at what engine mileage this cleaning might be necessary, so can anyone enlighten us?

I have seen the Tetraclean ads featuring Edd China but I am sceptical how that works

It’s going to depend on driving style, but I’ve seen them well covered with as little as 20k on them. 40-50k is probably a reasonable mileage for most people. Only way to do it properly is to have it walnut blasted IMO.
