Cooling fan upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello

I am planning to have the GPF Revo Stage 2 done soon and am slowly putting all the hardware together. I plan to keep my car a long time so although Revo do not specify it I want to improve the engine and gearbox cooling for longevity.

My car has single cooling radiator and dsg cooler but no right hand radiator as the Golf R does. My workshop manual does show that some Superb variants (maybe hotter countries) do have the RH radiator.

I would like to add the RH radiator and at the same time upgrade all three radiators to CSF aluminium ones. I have figured out most of the parts I think but one of the sticking points is the cooling fan.

The 3 radiator cars appear to have twin fans whereas I only have one. I think I will need the twin fan set up, not only for cooling but for the metal cooling pipe from the RH radiator as it bolts to the top of the twin radiator cowl.

I am pretty sure the twin cowl will fit my radiator but the big question is does anyone know if the twin fan unit will just plug and play, or does the car need reprogramming somewhere?

Struggling to find the answer to this so if anyone can help I would be really grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Can’t help with whether it’s plug and play, but the dual fan is probably related to cars that have towbar prep and/or towbar installation specified at the factory?

The ross tech forum guys probably know. This is the closest thread I can find for the mqb platform

Thanks, yeah I don't have VCDS yet but I was thinking maybe I could ask them. I also wonder if I could approach a friendly technician at the dealers.

Massive props to you for the serious attention to properly upgrading, not just chasing the bragging rights of big turbo etc etc, but doing it sympathetically.

Oh thanks for saying that, yes want the extra oomph but not by just throwing caution to the wind and shortening the life of major components!

Don't have anything helpful unfortunately, just like to read interesting topics. :)

Did you find any solution so far?
