Blaupunkt Speed sensor

Featured Replies

I Have a 2000 1.8 SlX Octavia

I have just bought my self a Blaupunkt Daytona HU.

I have the Blaupunkt adapter cable for fitting the stereo but it seems to be missing a connection.

One of the conections on the back of the stereo is for the speed sensor which controls the automatic sound level adjustment (pin A1). There is a wire in that position on the original Skoda ISO plug but on the adapter there is no wire going to pinA1. Does anyone know why this is missing from the adapter ? Is there a reason for this ?. Would it be ok to connect this up as I would like to get the automatic sound level adjustment working.

Thanks for any help

If you are sure that the missing cable is for the GALA speed sense then by all means connect this cable, the easiest way is to still use the adaptor and insert the missing cable. A piece of cake if you have access to an old ISO adaptor.

I dont thing the 2000 model has the infamous K wire, I am sure someone will correct me if thats wrong.

Yes, you are correct. When I bought my Blaupunkt DXR52 sat nav unit I discovered that the ISO plug I bought was missing this wire too, rendering the whole sat nav function useless. A quick butcher using another wire to connect the 2 pins made sure it worked.

Thanks for the Advice

Weird, I cannot understand why the adapter did not have this wire, as I thought that ISO connectors where standard, and what

Most of the newer Skoda's have the Gala stuff. My vRS has it..... Then thinking about it the wires for the power were the 'right' way round on my unit as well. Perhaps they changed it slightly when they got the newer head units in cause the missus's car aint got no Gala abilities.

Looks like I will have to go out and find a cheap adapter to butcher for the missing wire then.

Whilst I am here I have one other question for you Blaupunkt owners. How does the ilumination function on your HU ?. Switching the lights on and off has no effect on the HU ilumination. When the ignition is on the blue power switch lights up on the HU. Is this what yours does ?

Mine has a dimmed backlight when having no lights on. When I switch the lights on, the HU has a bright backlight. The contrast is adjustable on the HU itself, and it doesn't dim in conjunction with the interior light dial thingie.

Looks like I will have to go out and find a cheap adapter to butcher for the missing wire then.

PM me your address and I'll send you one out of my butchered connector.

I've got the Daytona.

The blue power switch is lit whilst ever the ignition is on, headlights or no. The display only lights up when you switch the unit on. Is this what you meant?

Yes this is what mine does.

I asked because whilst I was playing with my new toy I noticed that occasionally if I turn the lights on after turning the HU off some of the other button lights come on briefly (half a second). This set up makes sense though as the only light you would want on in the dark if the stereo were off would be the power button

Bluespot have just replied to an email I sent them on this subject and are sending me the missing wire no need to mess up the old adapter.

Now depending on what I read the wire in postion a1 is either a alarm wire or the gala wire. I am confused

see wiring diagram below.

I have a 2000 Tavia before the range revision (1.8 slx est) anyone game for guessing wich of these to functions the pin a1 performs in my car.

I don't whant to damage my shiny new HU.

Finally got this sorted out today.

Whilst I was getting a boot mat for my Tavia I cornered one of the mechanics at my local dealer. The wire in position A1 (blue and white wire) is a gala wire and not anything to do with any/alarm immobiliser even on the pre range revision cars like mine which came with the grundig 201 stereos. And I am pleased to say that it works good and proper
