can anyone help,

i had the udder mod done a couple of weks ago, now this my be coincidence but since i have heard an awful noise from the front. like a dull buzzing. I do need new tyres, got some to fit on thursday. Could it be this??

I'd like to think it is but any help would be appreciated.

It does sound any worse on throttle, and it's noisey inside the cabin, gets louder with more speed. it's running on the factory Bridgestones at the moment.

When you lower the car it changes the angle of the drive shaft which could in turn change the forces placed on the hub bearing and make worse an already suspect wheel bearing.

any ideas how much the wheel bearings will cost to replace? get the feeling it won't be covered through the dealer..

You may get it as a warranty claim - they are a known problem. Failing that I'd say around £150 - £200 at a guess.

Double that and you'll get what I got told from my dealer (got it done under warranty though)

all i'm thinking is that with me having it lowered, does that void the warrenty?

It does yes - that said I mentioned it beforehand & I still got it under warranty as it shouldn't have failed this early.

It's pot luck more than anything, go to your dealer, tell them to check (that ought to be free). Then they should tell you if it will be warranty or not. If it's not, you may wish to get it done elsewhere, if it is, let them fix it

it is the wheel bearings!! had it checked yesterday.

Funny how they don't tell you when you get it lowered!!

What did they say - will they do it?

took it to ABP for a check as i was close to them, spoke to a mate who works for VW and the thinkn not, but can get me the parts trade and get a tech to fit them, so all is not lost!
