Been at the garage for the last 2 days having the Koni Str. T kit (and all that Lemforder gear) fitted.

Before and after pics... I've tried to make them equal in proportion, croppage and car filth

  • Added Lemforder drop links to the box and, this morning, something large landed..

  • Passed...  Advisories on front discs (we knew this, see pic) and front tyres are getting low, that's it.  Should be done at the start of December.

  • The Hoodie on the bike is already eyeing it up

Yeah.. I'm even more into it than before..

And it doesn't sound like an old creaking bed now either, which is nice..

It's had 1 coat of Hammerite Straight To Metal now for a liberal coating of Plastikote before I say a prayer and mark up my turrets... gawd help me.

Was only expecting 1 relay but had 2 to hide.

Now they're gone I'm hoping to get the deletes completed (started) this week..

Took me 3 days this week (not full days, about 15 hours total... the blistering heat done me in) to get all the mods/deletes done.

But done they are.

The catch can piping is interfering a little with the MAF plug so I'd like to deal with that.

And I hate all those clips but I guess they're a necessary evil.

Bit of modding of the engine cover and that'll go back on.

More things have happened...

I contacted Rtech about pre Stage2 checks/upgrades and tried to get one of their CAIs, as advertised on their site.

They don't do them any more but suggested a Ramair kit.

Ramair it is then

I'm also working out the bumper fed cold air feed but still want to maintain the original look...

Not noticed an increase in induction noise but if I drive gentle there is a lazy whoosh..

The only thing I’d worry about is puddles. You don’t want water being sucked up into the intake. Just something to bear in mind when it’s chucking it down.

I'd have to hit them pretty hard to get water through that cone but I hear ya... last one I did I took from under the bumper of a V6 Cavalier - blimey that was about 20 year ago. 😲

Drilled the holes for the strut brace too, forgot to get pics - the rustoleum is just curing before I fit it.

And I have a K-brace to go in too.

And the list of parts still to buy just keeps getting longer (and nobody wants to give me a job).. coil packs next I think. They don't match and my idling's just a little uneven.

Air feed implanted..

So pleased the headlight didn't have to be removed..

I've been getting some stick (elsewhere on the 'net and because of 2 decades of preaching against cone filters) about heat soak so I've dangled a wireless thermometer in there for s**ts and giggles

Whether it'll work is anyone's guess.

Not really fussed..

Still looks OE (and tatty-ish) from the front

It's in the plan.... never really tarted an engine bay up before.

No mate.. they're brick built bungalows.

1920's built. The council have clad them in some weird (but very effective) cladding.

I get happy feelings with a clean bay.

Me too mate... Yours is smart as flip.

Once it's finished and tidied it'll get properly cleaned..

Need a new expansion tank and want to get rid of the bloody stay..

Hydraulic lifters are so much nicer.

Had to clean the maf (fluctuating revs on idle) so I figured a little sprucing would be OK too....

Still need a new scuttle.. want a new expansion tank..

Not sure how to clean the alternator, they always look grim - buy a new one?

Mr Muscle oven cleaner on the inlet manifold? Not into polishing, just not minging.

Everything else can just get a wipe with groundnut oil.

Catch can needs to move really too. I have a plan.

Did a thing or 2..

Strut brace in. Obviously some holes didn't line up but they do now. IMG_20210930_143123.thumb.jpg.2a0301bef258afb68dc6729e8540129a.jpg

Because I've had a couple of decades campaigning against cone filters I'm paranoid about heat soak so some gold happened.

Me too, I'm like an expectant father at MOT time. I can't settle till it's done & I know what I'm up against.

Fingers crossed. 👍
