Hi all! 
 
Having read through the forum I see a lot of people have had similar issues to myself since I collected my new VRS last month. I wanted to give my impressions and opinions after a month. 
 

First off I love the car overall, feels more powerful than it says on paper, very well built cabin, comfortable seats and superb gearbox. None of the following issues put me off the car in any way it makes up for the issues easily. 
 

However the infotainment system is pants! CarPlay crashing regularly, black screen on CarPlay, logging me out my username and then not letting me log back in! It’s the one thing if I could change on the car I would! Saying that the digital dash is great, easy to use, clear and nice to use with lots of good info on it. My car is actually in at the dealership today to get a software update so fingers crossed I can update this with all the issues being resolved. 
 

I love the adaptive cruise and I have to say I quite like the lane assist (must be the only person) however one week after purchase it came up with lots of faults and all of that switched off! However a trip to the dealer confirmed it just happens occasionally (things like certain types of fence etc can cause it to freak out and switch off) which is fine as long as I know it’s not a fault. 
 

The engine on this new car is superb, very smooth, very punchy, with sporty driving I get around 44mpg but with eco mode and adaptive cruise I got over 70mpg on a medium run on a normal road, overall combined seems to be an achievable mid 50 driving mixed  I seem to have been very lucky and not had the sound actuator fitted which is nice as no fake noises in the cabin. 

 

Handling is superb, very little spin and torque steer, sets up nicely on bends and body roll is minimal. Brakes are excellent very strong and fade is minimal you need to push very very hard to notice any issues. 
 

The adaptive LED “matrix” headlights are insanely bright and light up a long distance! Yes I’ve been flashed a couple of times but setting the sensitivity to high solved this issue as it dips much sooner. The dynamic rear lights do a wee dance when coming on and the scrolling indicators are very classy and “Audi”. 

 

Overall yes there are niggles and issues which can be frustrating however if you’re reading through this forum do not let it put you off, brilliant car.

I've taken it on a lease so coming from Manchester area. 

 

Yeah, they do seem to be a bit rare at the moment around here although I did see a red estate vRS in Lochgelly high street a few weeks ago. Looked good!

Another vrs owner in Fife here, had mine 3 weeks and loving it. Had a couple of infotainment issues but apart from that it's great. I'm not quite getting the same mpg as mine is petrol! I've not seen another mk4 vrs yet although not been far. 

Fantastic review. I've a petrol estate and have to agree it's a great car. Since using mine daily it seems to not log me out nearly as often as it did initially. 

 

Managed 38mpg on a motorway run today.

I’m experiencing a few too many niggles (incl. the kph/mph issue well documented in this forum) which is a real shame as it takes the shine off an otherwise very good car.

 

I must drive like my grandad ‘cos today’s motorway run I got 50+mpg from my 1.5Tsi estate.

Hi all over in Glasgow i have not seen any VRS's and that's good. I get loads of looks and i really enjoy the car. Yes the software is ****e but i have a dealer appointment next week for a full update. I did this week get 39.9 mpg on eco on the motorway. YEEE , prob the best it will do. I'm not bothered as moving from a Superb 190 dsg sportline to this showed me that the Superb was big heavy and not as responsive. When i had the Superb i thought it was fast and responsive.

Thanks for the review. I ordered the exact same combination as you - red/hatch rs tdi200 and I must say it looks amazing. Can`t wait to get it.
