Not sure, its a 54 plate, but it has a re-map, which the dealer arranged to be done while in for a service.

it has a re-map

Oh dear...

There may be some comeback at dealership level, but I'd imagine that SUK won't honour a warranty claim.

Thats what im affraid of, could be a bit costly... :orb_upset

What kind of pop was it? Could it not be just a pipe?

If your dealer did it, I assume they will honour the warranty even if SUK don't?

white exhaust smoke is bad though. If it was just a blown turbo or a pipe popped off, the engine wouldn't have died. Sounds more like something internal to me - especially with all the white smoke it chucked out. :(

My guess is a head gasket. :thumbdwn:

Fingers crossed it doesn't cost you anything fella.

White smoke = no compression ...unburnt diesel.....so would guess at valves or piston or rings.......sounds expensive though

At a push i'd say you have blown the lower intercooler pipe off and it just needs popping back on.

Definitely not turbo/pipe involved in turbo system, as that just made lights come on, make it smoke like Jason's :P and cause it to generally drive worse than SWMBO's Kia

Hope it can be found & fixed by your dealer. Good luck

Exact symptoms of what happened to mine when the lower pipe popped off. And i've not actually heard of a PD blowing up.

We had the pipe blow off on SWMBO's shortly after getting it.

Big loud bang, lots of black smoke and no power.

I've never heard of a PD blowing up either.... the only time I ever experianced big white smoke and an engine die, was in my old saab 900 turbo, it was terminal, as apparantly I'd blown a hole through one of the pistons! :(

Hope its ok.Agree with Jason.Any serious problems/worries about warranty will be in the garage's lap.Wouldn't worry about SUK

Saw an old vauxhall tigra billowing clouds of white smoke the other day.Never seen so much smoke!

I had loads of white/grey smoke when:

a) I ripped a hole in the sump and dropped 3 litres of engine oil on a hot exhaust :D

B) When I put a rod through the block and agian dumped oil all over the hot bits :grumpy:

You may be lucky and it's just a hose popped off on the other hand you could be looking at a complete rebuild / new engine / new turbo :(

It is not the turbo pipe as i know what happens when it goes, as its happened twice b4. If it has blown an intercoooler pipe off it will be the second time its happened.

It was a loud popffffftt kind of noise. and didnt blow smoke straight away about 20-30 seconds after it popped it blew the white smoke.

Courtesy car arriving later, wonder what it is, think it was was the 3cyl diesel fabia wagon last time, lovely wee car.

Was the Turbo that gave up..

Getting new turbo fitted on friday if it arrives, under warranty (phew) :) :) :)

im running around in a 1.2 HTP, great fun to drive

And i've not actually heard of a PD blowing up.

Give me time, give me time!!

Infact I have noticed a bit of whilte smoke from the back of mine occasionaly, it doesn't do it constantly, just every now and again and at different levels, the other day there was a distinct smoke trail behind me all the way up the hill that leads out of my house and into town, but another time it wont do it at all, then sometimes it'll do it at idle, and sometimes not, it's got 104,000 on it now and a dragon digital since 70k (set at halfway not max) any ideas? oh it idles lumpily occasionally too.

Good news Kris, quick service from the dealers.

Aye, not too bad. hopefully nothing else was damaged due to the turbo packing in..

if the turbo seals have gone it will probably have filled the exhaust system with oil , so you may require a new system inc cat , plus it may also have filled the intercooler/pipework up with oil ,so this will require cleaning out , beware of smoky car when you pick it up

The wife blew the turbo on her new Fabia VRS the other day - hope it's not

a trend....

heres what im running around in till then' date='

I had one of those a while back for a short time... They sound like ferrari's high up in the rev range (they do not however... go like like them...), only a lot (LOT) quieter! :D

The one I had as a courtesy car sounded nothing like a Ferrari whatsoever, more akin to a sewing machine I thought
