Delivery Delays

At the end of October (ordered mid-July), I was told mine (Superb 2.0 L&K Hatch) would be with the dealer 18th February.

However... 2nd week December, that date was scrubbed by the dealer and no alternative date was given.  I've chased the broker (it's a lease car) this week and asked them to find out what's happening, but no answer as yet.

So I've gone from approx. 7 months, to no idea.

have they told you if your car has is part built and waiting for parts ie sitting in a field somewhere or are you just getting dont know answers

  • Mine that was ordered on 5 February has finally arrived. It was built in March but since then has been waiting for a part. I took delivery of it yesterday....Hooray!

  • got call from dealer, 280ps L&K arrived! ordered 2022. apr, haven't seen yet

  • i'd be more concerned that VAG / skoda might start sourcing inferior chips from china.  they'll be desperate to get cars moving to free up space and bring in the £££, so maybe  likely to buy from

I've asked, and even suggested it might be part-built somewhere, but yes, all I'm getting is the "don't know" response.

I rang the dealer in December , because I know someone who ordered another brand about the same time as me ( July/August) and was quoted a May delivery date , but the car arrived in December.    The dealer informed me that they hadn’t got a build date but were hoping they would have the car in February. We shall see.

Once the car has been built it will be given a VIN even if it is waiting for parts.

That VIN should be given to your dealer or Skoda UK once it has been built so that is a good way of finding out if the car has actually been built or not.

Company car ordered April 2021, Superb SEL, 2.00TDI estate, only extras are camera and towbar, delivery dates have been and gone, Broker now says it will arrive when it arrives and no idea when. Fortunately company were able to extend lease on current Superb so not too bothered

Had a dealer update this a.m. - Car has been 'released' but it'll be about 4 - 5 weeks before it arrives no mention of any missing toys - 22 Reg it is then........I ordered end of May build started week 29.

Latest update on delivery

Vehicle(s) -  SKODA SUPERB DIESEL ESTATE 2.0 TDI CR SE L 5dr DSG.

Unfortunately, our latest update on the above is that your order has slipped back and is still awaiting a confirmed build date. We will be in a position to advise an ETA once the build date is confirmed.

We are experiencing manufacturing delays to the DEALER and may be subject to change currently due to the ongoing global SemiConductor Shortages, the effect of Factory Covid Closures, and Brexit delays.

We will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the delivery, but if you require any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

They don’t seem to be making enough excuses by the  looks of it.  It irritates me when other brands seem to be able to provide cars with shorter waiting times.  I don’t know what rights the consumer has regarding cancellation but I’m wondering whether to find out.
Just to add , not impressed with the communications , or lack thereof  from the dealer either regards this nonsense.

it's never good when dealers dont keep you informed, but it's probably worse if they give you a build date and then that date gets cancelled or delayed further,

you look forward to the date they give you, then you have the disappointment to deal with when it does'nt happen,

i feel for people who have been given build date after build date, so maybe better with no communications

Unfortunately, that seems to be where I am.  I chased it up with the lease broker last week, had a reply this evening to say that giving me a date in the first place and then deleting it (without giving a new date), may or may not have been an error by manufacturer or dealer.  Broker's are chasing for information, but unable to get any update.

Thing is, I could cancel it, and change to a different brand car from their in-stock list, and get it within a week or two, but I don't want to do that.

i think some dealers just give you a build date  to keep you from cancelling, they know they can blame the manufacturer when it does'nt happen.

So, an update today, from the dealer, gives an "unconfirmed build week 6", so w/c 7th February, with potential delivery to dealer of mid-March.  Subject to further delays, so that may align with your theory, 310golfr 😉

i've been told provisional build weeks are normally changed to confirmed builds, the week before,  [ if it's gonna happen ]

dealers are normally told on a tuesday the week before, so if your build week the 7th february , look for an email from your dealer on 1st february.

let us know when your build week becomes confirmed,  i'm provisional build week 9, so 3 wks behind you,

it'll maybe give us all an idea if things are starting to run on time   😀

I'll keep you posted... 👍

I'm in between with build week 7 😀

Tried to get an update from my dealer, nothing but silence so far...

8th february is the date your  dealer gets any info from the factory for build week 7,  unless provisional date is gonna change

So no news at the moment might be good news for you  😀

  • 2 weeks later...

No news does seem to be good news at the moment, I did get an update in the end: no changes to the provisional build week 7. At least that's progress from before :)

Also got my home charging point installation scheduled for next month as I'm getting an iV, so it's on time before the government grant ends in March.

That’s more contact than I’ve had! I am always chasing up the dealer because they promise call backs and nothing ever materialises, which ****es me off somewhat, I did ring customer services last time , but that is just a misnomer and they are useless.

Didn't say it was easy, it takes a few emails to get an update. At my dealer, they've handed this over from sales to the customer experience team, they seem a lot more responsive than the sales team.

Brilliant, hopefully things are getting back to near normal. A phone call to your broker/dealer end of next week to confirm cars been completed and if it has,  should be with you middle of next month  perfect for the new 22 plate

Ordered my Superb L&K on 2nd June.  Just had a phone call today to say the car is in the UK and I can choose to have it soon or wait for a 22 plate in March.  I'll wait the extra month!

Possibly came over on the same boat as my L&K  - ordered 24th May - built week 29 - been awaiting parts for a few months - arrived UK earlier this week - dealer will have it by the end of next week and I'll have it 1st March.

I was build week 34.  I was originally told December delivery.  Annoying thing is the list price has increased since ordering so I think I'm now going to get hit with the extra road tax for the car being over £40k.

good to hear your dealer has had a re-think and  agreed to hold the car for a few weeks to allow you the new 22 plate

makes sense for good customer service
