There is a lot of info on here including the sticky thread towards top of mk 2 forums called 1.8 and 2.0 tsi engine failures.  Start from the most recent and work back a little as you won't need to go to far before finding something. Is it the 1.8tsi or 2.0tsi?

Anecdotally, on here, the 1.8tsi gets the worst reports on here but both can be susceptible esp if long service intervals are used.

There is some hope I suppose if it has only started all of a sudden, that you have a specific fault rather than the clogged scraper ring.  Do you see smoke when putting accelerator down hard, have you pulled the plugs, is there any leaking oil on drive (have you pulled the undertray to make sure you don't have an oil leak?

When you say much oil, how much are we talking over what distance?

I  have only topped up once on ours and it has done 109 0000. Think it was about fours years ago

@pastiche You get oil & filter services done though.

What engine do you have,

& how miles do you do between oil changes and did the dealership reset the service indicator for you?

Since new it has gone into Skoda at correct times for everything.

@pastiche sorry but does that mean you have oil changed yearly or sooner if you do over 9,400 miles or you are on variable servicing so it could be 2 years between oil and filter changed.  Either way is in on time but the difference is s each 12 months or as much as 24 months between someone else changing the oil.    Still no idea what engine your car has.

Hi , have the CR 140bhp DSG and it is on variabl;e but, owing to Covid doing far less miles had the engine oil and filter changed before time which would be this October coming, also had the cambelt /pump changed and this is not due till October 21. Also front pads as they would need doing in near future. As for mileage , we have moved house which means the journey we use to have 160m there and back is now only 20 miles altogether.

Ok. well, it is good that you replied but your engine is completely different to the OP so any responses have little to no relevance when it comes to oil consumption issues I'm afraid.
