Sat Nav not working :(

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i bought my skoda a year ago, i had to make a long trip so i thought i would update the sat nav system, i followed every step it showed from the Skoda websitre but now it will not work! the message i get is 'Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data'... i have the original SD card which starts with 5E0.. ANY help would be great!!

Thanks

Did you update the SD card on a pc or Mac.
If the latter I’m sure someone that has one will come along and tell you how to remove the extra data it leaves on the card that the Amundsen doesn’t like.

Did you back up the original files?. If so, copy them back onto the card & see if it works. It wil rule out a faulty card. Just remember, you have to use a genuine Skoda SD card.

Also search for sat nav updates in this forum. There has been much discussion over the years

1) You MUST use a genuine Skoda SD card with the Amundsen, no other SD card will work.

2) You have to unzip the file that you download from the Skoda portal - I do this on my PC AFTER making a copy of the files that were on the SD card.

3) I find it easier to then clear the SD card by doing a quick format (FAT32 and I select a 4K cluster size).

4) Copy the unzipped downloaded files onto the SD card.

5) If you do all this on a Mac then you need to remove some temporary files that macOS puts onto the SD card - these all begin with the (dot) character. I use Blue Harvest or CleanEject to do this.

@OlleWood if you get completely stuck, then please PM me with your VIN for your car (so I can download the MIB1 maps relevant for your car), and send me your Navigation Card and I'll sort it out for you.
