Air Recirculation Woes

Featured Replies

Does anyone out there know why the air recirculation light goes out after about one minute on my VRS. It's been to a dealer three times to be investigated under warranty with no success. It should change to recirculation when selecting reverse but I can't tell if it does or not. The warranty runs out in a few months so I may try another dealer soon.

Yes, I think so.

I would say that one or both of your vent flap motors is jammed or broken. Get the codes read by someone with VAG-COM and take it to the dealer.

When selecting reverse the light doesn't illuminate, but you can hear the car changing from outside vent to recirculate.

The lights change in the Ibiza :(

I only twigged the other day that pressing the recirculating button stops air from entering the cabin  For a while I was wondering that there was no control to stop fresh air coming in. :o

I believe it goes out (and the car comes out of recirc mode) because it's "not good" to leave the car in recirc mode. No idea why not, maybe one of the techies can explain :D

It won't light up when you reverse (it's designed that way), but you'll hear the note of the blowers change and it'll get louder.

Chris

In my experiance quickly dropping out of recirc is an indicator of the flaps not moving.

There would be little point in having a recirc mode if it wouldn't last any more than a minute.
