New to DSG, am i right...

Ours idles at 800 WHEN IT WARMED UP     Until  it is it revs at 1000 and then drops back. Did the same on our Polo

"expecting a hill start", yes, maybe. I'll give it a go tomorrow when I am out and about. It's cold at the moment and I don't want to waste fuel warming up.

Been running around for a couple of days but revs stay resolutely at 1000 regardless.

Sounds OK then if that is stopped in P or N with Parking Brake on. Or sitting foot on brake pedal and ready to go.

Maybe just keeping a health GPF which they need to do.

VW Group have had to mess about and get things wrong and having 1.5TSI's with bad behaviour to gt the WLTP / RDE results and now the RDE2 ones.

If raising the tick over speed has stopped there being kangerooing issues then maybe that was all it required.

Then again i expect fuelling / engine management changes have been made elsewhere than just at tick over.

Turn aircon off and see if it changes

Thankk you for the comment but I have no idea what GPF means nor WLTP/RDE.

Gasoline particulate filters are fitted.   The WLTP is supposed to be World Harmonised testing for economy /  emissions but much of the world could not care what the EU introduced as a flawed way if testing cars in the real world.  The RDE was testing emissions so partly fuel use / consumption and easily cheated so now there is the RDE2 and manufacturer's have to actually get the lower emissions so also economy and real lower emissions and less cheating.  But being as it is there is always room to cheat.

Oh right. But I think exKiwi has hit it. Revs did drop to 800 when I turned off the climate control but as the aircon is part of that, it has to be on, particularly on these damp Autumnal mornings. That would make sense as my wife's older car has separate aircon and fan settings. I guess I have to adapt and go into N when stopped.

I did not read all but if you drive 1.0, revs will never to under 1000. On the traffic light when you stop (with D)and press break properly, the  car will stay at 1100-1200 revs for around 2 seconds and then will drop to 1000 and disengage the clutch.

Of course, the main use of hazard warning lights is to permit parking in prohibited areas. At least it seems that way judging by the number of times its done.

or I'm too busy stopping frequently  delivering parcels/food  / cleaning bins / looking for thenext pickup so i'll just leave them on all the time, 'cos that covers me for all options and means i don't have to bother taking my eyes off my phone to look in my mirror

Looking at buying a petrol Scala with the auto box.
Would be really interested in hearing back from those who have one on their impressions.
Thanks.

My Scala with the DSG 7 box is the best car I have owned so far, its comfy, surprising nippy if you poke it, very economical in the 55-60mpg area, big rear space etc.

Its a great car, our previous was the Rapid SpaceBack and our next car will be a Skoda as well.

I have had mine since April. Done a tour of Northumberland, a trip over to Devon and several across to Thanet, plus the usual wandering around home on the Surrey/Sussex border. With 1.5 engine it is surprisingly quick if you need to overtake caravan/horsebox/tractor/pensioner (delete as applicable). The gearbox does its stuff almost imperceptably. I regularly cross the North Downs with some very steep gradients; no sweat going up or down. The box holds itself in 3rd or 4th on the way down until I touch the accelerator. It is easy to spin the front wheels on take off but that may be the tyres. It has a decent sized boot; bigger than a Golf or Audi. My only beef is the digital dash and infotainment. Whereas actual buttons/switches/knobs can be operated with one hand without taking my eyes off the road, it is far too easy to get distracted by touch screen menus. I have scared myself a couple of times when I realise I have driven half a mile or so without looking at the road. In short I reckon it's an Audi for Fiat money.
