Reverse camera install help

Featured Replies

Hitting the button turns on the horizontal car showing how far I am from everything. I can see the is a button what looks like the rear end of the car with wifi type arcs at the bottom of it (assuming it means camera) but it is greyed out / disabled. Only time it works is when you physically select reverse gear. Maybe its because it is powered by reverse gear, I am not sure...

Parking sensor button should look like this:

I'm not sure how the Chinese (I think that's what you have?) cameras decide to turn on/off.

yeh thats the one.. I will take a picture later ans how it looks. Yes I have the sinosmart one..

Might be contacting the seller, I'm not sure if the sinosmart cameras support coding or not. They are a bit weird as they seem to automatically recode other modules when they are fitted which scares me...

When I fitted my OEM one, I had to apply the following changes so it could be worth checking them if you have access to VCDS/OBDeleven:

Coding was super easy:
- Address 19, add 6C to the installation list
- Address 10, coding, tick byte 2 bit 4
- Address 5F, adaptions, change Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-VPS_0x0B to "activated"
- Address 5F, adaptions, change Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-VPS_0x0B_msg_bus to "Infotainment data bus"

Just so I am not mistaken, you can see the reverse camera without actually selecting reverse gear?

@Ams12could you check if this is possible on your sinosmart/ chinese variant?

I checked earlier and confirm you cannot see the rear camera. When you select front sensors, there appears to be an option for rear sensors but that’s greyed out and you cannot select it

Thought so, do you have vcds or obd11 and check the parameters that langers2k mentioned?

Unfortunately not, I wouldn’t even know where to begin
