OctaVRS workshop manual?

Featured Replies

I've had my Octavia VRS for 3 months now(Black is the only colour with tints), and it'll be due it's 50K service soon (It was 2nd hand- even I couldn't clock that kind of mileage).

Can anyone tell me 1) How much the 50K service is likely to skin me?

2) What is involved in the service?

3) Is there a Haynes/any other workshop/maintenance manual available for the VRS?

Phil,

50k is a little one, IIRC I paid about

Oh, and no, there's no Haynes manual as yet... :)

Rob.

Haynes will not publish a manual for a car until they think there are enougth of them on the road so that they cover the cost of making the manual the manual.

People stop buying Vectras and Mondeos !!

There is one for the Golf/Bora will most of the mechanicals be the same ? seeing how these all use the same gear ?

I would guess that the Haynes Golf/Bora Manual would be a good compromise. Pity they are shrink wrapped these days so that you can't have a quick peek at the contents.

Surely there must be enough Octavias on the road now to warrant a Haynes manual? The Taxi sales alone must be sufficient

Come on Geoff, you shouldn't mention the 'T' word and Octavia in the same sentence. Tut Tut. Get enough ribbing at work as it is.

Let em rib you, then leave them in your wake as you take off at warp 9 :drive:

Now i think about it, i'm sure i saw a Haynes manual for either the Felicia or the Favorit last time i was in Halfords.

Did either of those cars outsell the Octavia?

Rich, Denis is referring to Haynes Manuals, not this month copy of "Readers Wives" ;)

Hi Guys,

I have an 1999 Octavia 1.6 and I have had the same problem re the Haynes manual. I called Haynes and e-mailed them and found them to be exceptionally helpful. I have an engine type AKL in my Octavia and this type IS covered in the Bora/Golf manual referred to earlier. Haynes' technical support e-mail address is [email protected].

I was thinking of doing the timing belt (60,000 miles) but decided not to since it involves releasing the engine. The dealer charged me Eur371.00 to do this.

I now need all brakes and the front disks done. The dealer quoted me Eur429.55 inc. vat but said that my local factor is reliable. My local factor has quoted me Eur144.00 for all parts. The Skoda dealer has told me the brakes are very similar to the Bora so I should have no problem with that Haynes manual for the job.

Thanks for that, JonP, and welcome to Briskoda.. It confirms what I thought about the Haynes Manual. :)
