Lane Assist currently unavailable

Featured Replies

On my MY20 Superb, whenever I’m parked in direct sunlight, more often than not I get an error on the VC saying “Lane Assist currently unavailable”

I’m able to tick lane assist again, and adaptive lane guidance, without having to turn the car off/on and both function fine despite the error coming up and disabling them. So I’m not sure what’s going on..

When scanned there’s an error under the ACC control unit but it’s not overly helpful:

Anyone got any ideas? It seems to be the fact that the sun is shining on the windscreen/camera but surely the camera can’t be that sensitive..

Mine's been doing that too!

The camera for Lane Assist is behind the rear view mirror.  Make sure that's clean and clear - and it may be the bright sunlight affecting the way the camera can see the lines in the road.

@defiant @337 - I agree with @adamjackdrew that what is almost certainly happening is that the direct sunlight is dazzling the CCD for the camera, which works the LA. I'm not a vehicle technician but I am a software engineer and this system is more about computers than about cars.

Yeah, I thought it might be the sun dazzling the camera @KenONeill, although it seems fine driving in direct sunlight without issues

Guess it’s just during start up where I assume the system checks the camera can see properly

It’s definitely clean @adamjackdrew, dirty windscreens annoy me so I clean it often 😂

Glad it’s not just me @337

Mine did this the other day too!

Thanks for confirming @SashaGrace

I'm wondering if its worth bringing up at my 15k service, still 5k km's away from that, or whether its just one of those things that can happen from time to time
