Hello I have a stock 2017 RS230. I’d like a bit of sound from the exhaust but not too loud or drony. I think all generations of Golf GTI or Golf R sound pretty good from factory. A noticeable exhaust tone and burble without being obnoxious.

 

Any recommendations on how I can achieve this?

Do you have any garages that make up custom exhausts over there. On my last MK2 FL Octavia VRS TSI I had a custom stainless steel exhaust made up with the sound I was after. In fact, just the sound you seem to be after as well. 

You could try a resonator delete.

Is there room for the VW GTI 245 PP backbox to fit under the bumper and still have the correct exhaust tip spacing? You might have to be prepared to do some cutting. Mine sounded fairly burbly on the drive and the large round tips looked good. The Octavia is pretty quiet, even my current 272 L&K sounds better  than my last mapped VRS 220 TSI.

In fairness the only thing that will sound like a Golf GTi or R is a Golf GTi or R. Apart from buying a custom exhaust and building it with varying resonators to replicate the noise. But that will be trial and error and expensive.

Do you have a pre-facelift RS230 or a facelift 230 ?

Because the pre-FL RS230 had a specific exhaust vs rs220 and it sounds quite nice.
