Parking Brake Superb Sports Line

Featured Replies

Hi Just a quick question.

How can I remove the Automatic Parking Break. For some reason it has changed. On Start-up I have to depress both clutch and brake pedal(s). This happens both with the engine running or off. For some reason the setting has changed.  Is this normal or do I have to turn off "Brake Hold"

Thanks

Pauline

Surely if it’s a manual you need to depress the clutch to start, on DSG it’s the brake you depress, you don’t need to do both.

The autohold applies the brakes same as you pressing the brake pedal and is not an automatic handbrake.

It does sound like it is Autohold that has been reset rather than the e-brake / parking brake.

Is Autohold an Amber light,

and the Parking brake a red light when activated?

Many thanks for your replies.

It is a manual gearbox and the amber light comes on when applied. It does not change to red at any time.

It happened after I had returned to my home following a short outing, parked but I couldn't move the car as the light remained on amber. I left the car for a short while, returned, pushed the brake pedal. Nothing. However, I did clear the light when depressing both clutch and brake pedals.

Thanks

Pauline

I have DSG so it is a bit different, but one thing to note is that if any of the doors /boot etc are not properly closed, the parking brake won’t automatically release when you try to move off.
In any case, you should be able to release the parking brake by pushing down on the operating lever, with the brake pedal pressed.

Hi Nick

Most grateful for your response as it confirms what I have now discovered.

Yes, it is more about the operating lever position 1 or 2 and the break pedal. I think the door was open when I noticed the problem and since then I manually override the settings if needs be.

Many Thanks

Pauline
