Red Sportline Estate paint chips - advice please

A friend took his Sportline Estate to his Kent Skoda garage for some rear suspension work after it failed its MOT this week – best part of £1,300. The garage washed the car. On examination this morning much of the car's paintwork has acquired a lot of white specs, particularly on the bonnet. My friend is doubtful that these marks were present before he took the car in for work.

 

Might they be the result of too much jet hose cleaning pressure? Or do they look like honest paint chips?

 

Thoughts appreciated.

i have quite a few on my Red superb also, the paint seems to be prone to stone chips. Maybe invest in a touch up pen..

Yeah definitely stone chips. A pressure washer would not cause that sort of damage.

Surely the owner would have been aware of such stone chips during ownership already?

or have they been coloured in that well that the first time it saw a jetwash rather than say a home bucket wash they all fell out ?

Look like stone chips and a lot of them as well. Does he sit slip streaming HGVs on the motorway?

Same Red here and same stone chips.

Paint does seem to be on the soft side...

 

Going to look at the touch up options.

 

Can be hard to spot them unless you hand wash the car yourself.

Panel wipe the bonnet. Then touch them all in with your colour mix and a toothpick. Should key better and stand up to a power hose when washing.

Surely paint is hard if it chips? A bar of chocolate won’t chip and is soft but I sheet of glass is hard and will…

Thank you for all the replies. Very useful. I have let my friend know and he is coming to terms with the issue. Disappointed with this vulnerability.
