  1. Any reason you’re not just buying a car with a six speed box in the first place?
  2. Yeah, I did both on my Mk3.5 when I had it. Ended up not using either though. The sign recognition would throw up wrong signs. The HBA wasn’t quick enough to react. I do use HBA on my Golf though. It seems to be better and the matrix LED work well with it as well. I don’t think you’re missing much with the Octavia though.
  3. Running boards are for SUV/Pickup type vehicles, where a higher ride height makes a step potentially easier to get in the vehicle. Why would you need one for a car? I’d suspect, as above, this will need to be a bespoke solution. Nobody is making an off the shelf item.
  4. Early vRS diesels had the bigger brakes. Up to around 15 plates, from what I remember. As to why? Cost saving and the TDI just not needing them, is my guess.
  5. I guess as some kind of GT racer it looks good. Not for everyday though. It missed the point of a hot hatch. What grade did your teacher give it?
  6. You can P/X anywhere. You’re not stuck with the brand at all. If you just hand it back, then yes that money is gone. Lost? I’d not say so - you used the car all that time. Best wait until nearer the time before deciding what to do. You could pay the balloon and sell it but, the Scala isn’t a particularly desirable model so you may not find many buyers.
  7. I’ve see someone link Osram units recently. Problem is, I can’t remember which thread it was in… or even what forum 🤣
  8. Sounds like the app has changed more than it should. With incidentally, is why people keep saying “don’t use the apps”. You need to find the manual coding for DRL and manually change it back.
  9. This whole thread is reminding me of when I swapped the head units in my MKV Jetta. Pulled the old RCD310 out, unplugged, plugged in the new RCD510 and slid that into place. 10 minute job. How times have changed. For the better..?
  10. I’d suspect not. I’m sure where the trim fits it’s a slightly different shape. Plus you’d have space for the interior lighting. I’m not 100% sure though. It’s just a half educated guess.
  11. Standard on L&K and vRS. Maybe SE Tech as well, can’t quite remember. They were options on the other spec levels.
  12. what doesn’t have as much tech on it these days? That’s surely going to be an issue for you? Pushbike maybe 😂
  13. It’s not OEM. That’s all I know.
  14. I look forward to Matt Watson launching the parcel shelf into a bush 🙄
  15. What’s the lease profile on that?
  16. It was never an option on the TDI models as far as I known. Pre-facelift 230 TSI and facelift 245 TSI.
  17. Yes. I have seen with my own eyes the results. I wouldn’t be happy with a SMART repair done on my drive. I agree however, that bad work can come from body shops as well. I had a repair done to a car I had years ago. Metallic silver Clio. I can only assume the guy who did it, completed the work in the dark. But I was young and didn't say anything. It will ultimately depend on each person. There are folk out there who think the £5 hand wash is “perfect”, for example. Hard pass for me.
  18. I’m no fan of mobile repair. Nobody will be able to convince me that spraying some paint on a quickly prepared area, rapidly cured, all whilst outside in a non-dust free environment will produce a good result. I’d genuinely be tempted to leave that. Then, around the 1 year old mark get it and any other inevitable mark sorted. Black is a colour I avoid at all costs now. Keeping it looking good is so difficult.
  19. Were the connectors a result of the accident damage repair? Disconnected at the time and not reconnected? Sounds like a total cluster. I’m also confused about your insurers part here? How are you claiming that back?
  20. Couldn’t get a decent vRS deal so opted for a Mk8.5 GTI. Maybe next time.
  21. Struggling to understand the relevance of most of that to the OP question 🤔
  22. I’d think it would be unsurprising if you had the clutch partially engaged, reviving at 3K RPM for 2 seconds.
  23. You’re honestly not missing out by not having it IMO.
  24. Hoping some (semi) good deals appear for leasing soon. Keen to place an order for one. Not at over £400 pm though with a chunky deposit. Especially as a GTI can be had for not a kick in the arse of £300 pm.
