I wonder if any of you gents had your day stick shifter shorten. I want to shorten the length for reasons of aisthetics and room. Any ideas fotos suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The button pulls a shaft that runs down the centre of the stick. This would need shortening. I can't remember what the end of the shaft looks like to recommend how best to do it. It a hole or something.

2 ways:

1) cut the end off, remove a section and refit the end.

2) remake the end fitting after chopping some off.

 

Then shortening the main stick should be relatively straightforward. Just need to be very accurate with how much you remove. The fitting on top with the button section I think comes off once the shaft is disconnected from the button.

 

Do some googling on replacing the lever and you should see what I'm talking about.

I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I have googled but I can't find anything. The procedure from what I know is exactly how you described it . But I can't find any blueprints or pictures on the net. I don't know if the tube that has the plastic straw in ,if it is easily detachable. If by any chance you stumble on any pictures on how it looks like do not hesitate to send them.

Thank you soooo very much to take the time to gimme such a complete response. I had thought. Maybe I should go and buy a broken used one and experiment on that before I go in for the main surgery.

 

That certainly an option. Get one you know fits your vehicle and at least you don't have to break something and have a car off the road.
