Oil Indicator Flashing

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Fabia the other day displayed a Flashing Oil Message with a small picture of a wrencg beside the Odometer on the Car.

I prompted checked the oil and it was fine and also topped up with premuim oil to be on the safe side and it still has stayed on.

The car has been serivced at 10 K and is now at 15K.

I have checked oil and did all the standard checks.

Is this indicator on because of a giltch in the ECU and then hence has to be cleared. I have had a similar issue with a Polo and was a matter of bringing it into a VW Garage and getting it cleared.

Any ideas before i bring the car back to the garage to get a check.

Ps. I got a new back box a Twin Pipe version for looks more than anything else would that effect my warranty ??

Thanks

Robbie

Sounds like an oil service indicator to me. Maybe the garage forgot to re-set at the last service or something?

No doubt someone will be along shortly to prove me wrong.

I'm afraid it means your engine's about to destroy itself.... Sorry

Only kidding - agree with Geoff sounds like a service is due. Have you checked your owners manual?? If it's only been 5k miles how long ago was it last serviced?

Did you have a light and the wrench symbol?

It was serviced about 2 months ago at its 10 k interval.

Yes it has a wrench and oil indicator flashing saying oil where the odometer is.

I think I can hear the trolley now. Hoorah......

And by the way, with that bad boy back box I reckon your warranty is ******ed too.

:p

Seriously, I reckon its just the service indicator that is wrong. Unless you've been thrashing the nads off it of course.

Yeah I reckon that myself, do you reckon seriously that the warranty is gone because of the back box ???

oh yeah, they teared mine up in front of me when they saw the stainless steel door handle covers on my vRS :sqwink:

I doubt they will care that much about it

Cheers :liao:

I called them and they said bring it in as it happens the odd time and is nothing serious and to wait til the 20 k is up and all can be checked out ..

The garage is a 2 hour drive so I do a lot of mileage so in Jan maybe the best time to get all checked out..

No. I was just winding you up. Sorry. :liao:
