2021 E-Tech Octavia Dash Cam??

Featured Replies

Have 2021 E-Tech estate. It appears to have a built in dash cam but there is nothing displayed anywhere. I could be mistaken but there appears to be a camera in the windscreen just above the wiper auto sensor.

Anyone know what this is?

Does your car have the traffic sign recognition system? May be related to that.

That's for the assist systems (see A on the diagram).

Yep, for the assist systems - but why don’t car manufacturers build in front & rear dashcams? Seems daft going to the bother of adding a USB-C port by the rear view mirror when they could just record from the one that’s there.

In some countries they compromise privacy law, so they don't put them in. Must say, the local usb port is a great addition.

Citroen does offer this as an option, but it is way too expensive and with questionable quality. Furthermore you cannot upgrade it.

Don’t know about traffic sign recognition, but it does have lane warning. How would I find out if it has TS recognition?

cheers

If you have it, you should get the speed limit signs displaying on the instrument cluster as it detects them.

I am awaiting my car, so don't know whether the standard lane assist (for an SEL) has a similar camera.

Same camera on the loan SE e-TEC I’m driving at the moment, and on my SEL FE still at the dealers - neither have the road sign recognition.

Now if dash cam manufacturers could just get on board with producing usb C powered cameras so we don't have to run janky cables that would be awesome. Had to resort to stuff the excess cable in between the headliner and the roof.
