Windshield Wipers too slow

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have recently joined Briskoda so if I am doing something wrong, bear with me please.

I recently got a 2021 Kamiq. The trim level is called Style in the country I am in.

Until now, I had a Volvo v50 2006 which was at the end of it's life with over 350.000 km so I decided to get a new car.

Yesterday, in very heavy rain I  turned the right stalk all the way to the top, to high, and I still could barely see stuff outside of the car. The wipers seems to move half as slow as my old Volvo. I know that Volvo is a luxury brand where Skoda is more reliable and so on, but I was just curious, is it normal for them to move slow even on the high speed? The car is 3 days old.

At the same time, I am not ruling out user error on my side. I just pushed the stalk all the way up. I read that if I leave it on int and have the rain sensor on, it can go faster?

I am hoping somebody can shed some light on my question.

I think if somebody owning a Scala or a Kamiq could show how fast their wipers go on the high setting that would be amazing.

Thank you guys

Hello Darkace, welcome to the forum. I cannot comment specifically on the Scala/Kamiq - but you should be getting at least 2-3 wipes (forward and back) per second on high speed. How does yours compare with this?

Wipe speed does vary while using Intermittant with the rain-sensor, but in my experience, is not faster than full speed on the stalk.

Hey!

I guess it's around ... 2 times a second but barely?

Maybe I was just used to them being different after driving that other car for so long I guess.

So far i used it only on int(auto) and i had no problems seeing outside even in very hard rain.

Speaking of using the wipers on auto,on my older car ,i only had an intermintent setting without a rain sensor, with the little knob on the stalk,i was controlling the time interval at which the wipers would wipe, there is a similar knob on the kamiq, what does it control, since the car has a rain sensor and a auto function?

It controls the sensitivity of the sensor.

And how does it work?the smaller water droplet means a lower sensitivity and the bigger means a higher sensitivity?

I don't know the technicalities. I'd guess it just lowers the threshold for triggering the intermittent wipe based on a certain amount of the sensor being covered with rain.

Typo

  • 3 months later...

Overtaken by a big car (fat and wide Audi) and my windscreen drowned in the bow wave as it went by.

I flicked the wipers to max and there was no apparent change from the previous wiper speed.

The Yeti and Fabia had suitably fast top speed on the wipers why doesn't the Kamiq?

Is it alterable via software?

Yep, they are slow.

Still struggling with mine in heavy rain.

On OBDleven there was something about increasing wiper speed as your speed increases.

Therefore... it should be possible?

I have had this useful feature on my other Skoda, as speed increases so does wipe speed and conversley as you slow or stop so does the wiper speed

but my middle and top speeds seem to coincide.

Yeah, from what I can see on my car, the only difference between top and mid is that there is no more pause betwern each wipe.

It is still too slow for me even on top.

It is the most annoying thing about this car honestly.
