Bluetooth problem with one specific phone.

Featured Replies

I've got a 2018 (2017MY) Octavia with the Admunsen screen (no CD drive, two SD slots, and the touch screen display with two physical knobs).

I've got a Samsung S10 that refuses to connect once paired. Pairing seemingly works just fine, as I have to press the button on both the screen and my phone, and it says it paired successfully, only after that it always says "Cannot connect to Skoda XXXX" on the phone. I've tried the phone with a different car (my wife's Citigo with bluetooth capability) and it connects and plays audio/phone calls just fine. I've tested my car's infotainment with her phone (Samsung A50) and that works just fine. It just seems like either my Octavia has a problem with my phone, or my phone has a problem with my Octavia.

I've tried resetting the Infotainment with a 10 second button press to fully turn off the infotainment, and I've tried resetting my phone's network settings. I'm at a loss as to why the two refused to play together!

The car is under warranty still as is the phone!

Thanks

Gavin

If you have any other Skoda's on the paired list on your phone, that can cause issues. I've had that both with the Skoda's i've had and my previous Mercs.

Mine is also an S10

I've removed all of the other bluetooth devices from my phone.

Have you also removed all previous phones from your car?

yes.

@GavChap Can you PRESS and HOLD the Menu Button, Go to Software and Software version and give us the info your system.  This will probably be a firmware niggle on your Amunsden stopping Android Auto and Bluetooth from working properly.  Depending on how IT literate you are, you can do this yourself or you can play the game "lets try and find a fault issue with the MIB system" with your local Skoda dealer (its a waste of time).  PM me if you want some assistance.

I also am having bluetooth issues- new Motorola G50 connects to the car and i can use the handsfree. What i cannot do however is use Android Auto- my car is the basic Audio system 2015Octavia SE. Ive checked that the phone is completely up to date and i was told at Skoda garage that the Audio system is up to date so now im stuck- i find the Android Auto useful for maps when it worked so would be good to sort this out.

Early 2015 cars have MIB1 systems that don't support CarPlay or Android Auto, maybe that's the problem? Please post the part number of your system as that will tell exactly what you have in your car.

My Octavia was an April 2015 build so has a MIB1 meaning I can't use CarPlay (I have an iPhone 11 Pro).

That part number is a Bolero - all the links I can find suggest it's a MIB1, so I'm puzzled that Android Auto worked with a previous phone?

Maybe others can clarify please?

At a guess, @Michaeldavis39 was previously using Mirrorlink but their new phone doesn't support it.

Assuming I'm correct, I don't think much can be done to add Mirrorlink to their new phone

That's where I was thinking but never having used Mirrorlink or Android Auto I didn't want to, in my ignorance, suggest a Mirrorlink incompatibility.

@Michaeldavis39 says "android car play worked fine on previous motorola".  I assume he means android auto. What options are displayed when pressing the menu button?  For VW, composition media 3Q0 035 842 A, which I assume is pretty much the same unit, was MIB2 from MY2016 around September 2015. What manufacture date is your vehicle @Michaeldavis39?

Also, assuming you have the android auto option under menu, what does it do or report?

@Michaeldavis39 posted an image with the part number 5E0035842A which is a MIB1 Bolero. Looking at the ones on eBay, they have production dates from late 2013 to early 2015 which makes sense and means it can't support Smartlink/CarPlay/Android Auto.

If they did have display from their phone, the only plausible option would be Mirrorlink :)

Looking at the G50 spec, there is no mention of Mirrorlink in the screen sharing section so that would certainly explain the behaviour reported: https://www.phonearena.com/phones/Motorola-Moto-G50_id11670

Aha. he was mistaken then in that it could never have had android auto in the first place. Mirror link is different, as you and I both know. Guess he needs to find a phone with mirrorlink or upgrade the MIB or put up! Tks A

So i had a Huawei phone previously and looking in Skodas website it did mirrorlink- phone no longer works so looks like i need upgrade
