Featured Replies

Morning all,

going to look at a 2017 180bhp DSG Sportline Superb today.

Any advice on specifics to look for? Common faults, servicing of gearbox etc etc.

thanks

Tom

How did you get on with this?

Bit late, but remember that the DSG gearbox needs servicing every 40k

It was a lovely motor. Drove great. Unfortunately most of the drivers side had been poorly resprayed. Rough edges on doors. Tape line down boot shut, rough line on roof line and overspray on roof bars. So I had to walk away as they would no drop price at all.

So DSG need service every 40k miles. Good to know. Any idea on cost of the service??

From memory, the DSG dealer service is £199.

This sounds expensive and for what is essentially a gearbox oil service it does seem that way, but only the dealer or a good VAG mechanic have the software for the mechatronic reset. So it’s worth the expense if you don’t know a decent VAG mechanic with the knowhow.

Most mechanics won’t know the mechatronics need a reset
