Vin won't register on MySkoda App?

Featured Replies

Just tried to enter my vin on the MySkoda app and it says wrong vin or not supported?

is this due to being a brand new car or is the app junk and barely works?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry no idea, obviously double, treble check you're putting the right numbers in, get someone else to check just in case, always check at source (the "plate") rather than any copies, we all make mistakes but sometimes they're difficult for us to see and we can copy mistakes from others without realising it.

Or contact the dealership or Skoda UK, it's new car after all.

I've taken the VIN from the windscreen. Checked it 3 times and it does not work sadly.

It has worked the 4th time. How Bizarre!

It's a computer program!  :D

And if you're involving a computer/mobile device/wireless (radiowaves)/connections - well, the possibilities for failure are multiplied.

When I used to ask my mate why the computer had done something strange often his reply was "Because it can."

Well done on persisting and getting it to do what it's supposed to, there's work for you in certain Government contracts. :D

It might just be a "time thing", ie if you have only just bought the car, Skoda UK might not have added that fact to the/their database, a friend bought a used VW T-Roc and it was about 14 days before he could create an account and add that VIN to his my Volkswagen account.

So after all that the car won't connect to the myskoda app ? lol

Two phones and two cables and it's a no go.

Car is brand new and no owners book. No service book.

Is this app used for the service book?

What does this app do and that android auto does not?

Wot!! ? !!  No paper printed, so reliable, copy of the Owner's Manual!!!

Well ain't that progress.

Luckily, if you have a reliable device, and reliable connection, and the website isn't down you can download an electronic copy of the Owner's Manual, I always strongly suggest using a PC with wired connect by I realise this is as strange as like suggesting to use a landline phone to some.

Here's the link that works on my hand-cranked PC, whether it works on one of these 'marvellous' latest mobile device like a "smart"? phone sorry I won't have a clue, forgive my cynicism but I've had to put up with computers and mobile phones since the 1970s and 80s and their overall reliability has gone full circle despite them being able to do a lot more, but only when they're working.

Fabia Owner's, Manual Issue date: 14.6.202, Part number: 6VA012720AA -

If that link doesn't work for you, go to - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models

HTH, cheers, Nigel.

That's great thanks.

I spoke to the broker and asked about the  car handbook etc and was told it's all online these days inc service.

Thanks for the online owners manual.

Wish I had a version to download or hold. I'm Old-School :)

@TylaTyl Sorry being old I forgot to check the hyperlinks I left were live, I normally test but thought they were live in these posts, and we all know what 'thought' did.

At this rate I could get a job with Microsoft to confuse people and make it more difficult than it is - you should just be able to click those links  and magically get there.

Sod's Law - every time you don't check you should have, I would put myself on final warning but I never listen t what I say. :D

Sorry cross posting.

If you're old school - or just old like me - you can ask for a paper print off of full service history before booking or getting the service work done and then a paper print off of the service you've just had and an update of the full service history to cover the service you've just had.

In fact if you're old like me they'll automatically give you a printout of the current service work and then you just ask for the updated complete history as they know you want it on paper not in the air.

And a finger nail pointing out on a print paper something that concerns you is a lot more powerful than any amount of different people looking at different screens, all psychological I suppose.

Yes but that was only after I edited the posted to include the hyperlinks (which I 'thought' I didn't have to do previously). :D

Thanks for your help. I simply copied the original non hyperlink and opened it in a new window :)

Yes but that was making you take four steps instead of a simple and direct one step, my thought is always to make the machine work for the user and not the other way round, I like to keep things simple when it comes to computers as I'm not clever enough to know all the jargon to take anyone, including myself, through multipole steps and menus as any self-respective MS or programming engineer would insist is needed rather than tell you the very simplest way.

If I can't click or right-click it on a mouse (not mouse pads, they don't like me and the feeling is mutual, and as for touchscreens don't get me started) then I'm impatient, and I'm certainly not interested in remembering 'typist' type shortcuts with my fat stubby digits spread across a keyboard like a demented pianist.

If I seem a grumpy old git that's only partially so, as often I'm also miserable, and computers generally do my blood pressure no good, more so even than cars and I've got a very old British car with modern made ****-poor parts.  Apart from that life's not too bad at the moment. :)
