For a tiny amount more they could put in stainless steel cables, but it's all about cost cutting. I've added lubricant to the second replacement since the spool always gets water inside it.

I agree. Very poorly made. I already hear the 'crumbling noise in my front passenger regulatory. Fortunately I've not heard any squealing as of yet though!
