Add remote control to Octavia Mk3

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend bought a second hand Skoda Octavia Combi Mk3 a few months ago, and we really love driving it! :)

The car (unfortunately) has the least options possible. (Only option is AC)

The thing which frustrates us the most is the absence of a remote control for the central locking. As we are/were used to it on our other/previous cars.

In the garage they told us it isn't possible to add it. By this I suppose they mean that there is no plug and play option.

I've already added remote control locking to an old car of mine in the past with some generic box from ebay.

I was wondering if it would be possible to do the same with the Octavia and if any of you have done something like this already or have any info which could help me in the process? (Wiring diagram/colors, ...)

With this car I'm a little more precautious as it is a lot newer/more complex then the other car I retrofitted. :D

Previously I've used something like this, but if you have a better suggestion, feel free to let me know! ;)

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Laurens

Bump...

As I'm revisiting this project, I've ordered some generic remote locking kit and I found this post which explains the connections for the MK II.

I'm still wondering if the cables etc are the same for the MK III, so does anyone know if the locking cable is still the grey/white cable? And does it still need the 180 ohm resistor?

If anyone has any clues feel free to share them. 😉

Thanks in advance!

Laurens
