Ventilation grill selection

Featured Replies

Greetings!

I have Octavia Combi DSG MkIII (2015) and just a few months ago (bought it last year in November), when I started using AC for cooling, I noticed that, when I want to change the blow grill using grill selection button, the air is always blowing on same spots, meaning that I can't select desired grill to blow the air out.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Anyone had same issues and what might be possible problem and solution?

Thank you!

All the best to the group!

I have found that ally cars still blow some air from the other vents. Even the ones not selected. I assume it's some sort of maintenance thing keeping air circulating.

Sorry, "ally" cars?

What do you mean by that?

Yes, I am taking the car to the service on monday so I will see where is the problem. Hope not too expensive.

It could just be a selector motor in the back of the central console that has failed; with an CANBUS Scan we could confirm this (as this fault would be reported).

Have you tried resetting the flaps ?

If you press SETUP on the AC dial it will show you a graphic of where the air is coming out of, maybe it's meant to have some air coming from the other vents.

Thanks. I will mention it to my mechanic.

I don't have automatic A/C, it's manual. Do you think it will work this way, also?

Why don't you just shut off the vents manually that you  don't want the air to come out of. I usually keep the cabin facing vents closed, whilst having air mainly to the front screen.

Should have read "all my cars".  Sorry. Typing on the phone.

As I said, all the cars o have owned with canbus controlled vents (2x Octavia, 1x Passat, 1x seat arona) all blow air from all the vents. When you set it to feat only it still sends a small amount through the dash vents.

The only way I can see it working as you expect is to shut the vents manually as @Noms says.

The vent flap actuators are not Canbus controlled.

Didn't realise that. They aren't mechanical like old cars. How are they controlled then?

I tried video guidance from YT video Iway sent and it worked, in a way. I pressed A/C + recirculating air symbol and it started to blow the air thru desired air vent as set per selector, probably after reseting (lights blinking for 3 or so sevs). But then again after some playing with selector I had to do the same operation bcs it stayed blowing in one position. I am asking all these because sometimes it's really hot here in Zagreb and I have 2 kids in back seats that aren't "climated" properly becasue just a small amount of air is blowing at rear air vent (below central console) so I had to find a way to fix this.

Thank you all, guys, for sharing probable solutions!

Electrickery.

A 12v motor and an encoder both wired to the Climatronic or Heater controller.

No Canbus.
