Question about next Service v age v miles

Featured Replies

My 2014 4x4 Tour du France Superb has just flown through today's MoT, and being a July 2014, some kind of service is needed as 12 months have passed.

Last service was @ 62K and was a minor one, oil, filters and Haldex filter/oil change.

Today and a year later the car has done 67.5K

The dash usually calls for a service around every 9K which might be my normal annual mileage, but miles have dropped due to covid, but I'm not sure what to do now.

Would it be prudent to have a simple oil/filter change and NOT  and wait for the dash to advise me which could be Xmas or later?

Service will be done by an independent.

Hope someone can advise. Local Skoda dealer (where the car came from) are just as confused as me!

Sounds like your TDF is much the same condition and mileage as mine.
Likewise my mileage has hugely dropped and will hopefully remain that way !

Personally I will stick to servicing annually and will do the usual major service/belts within either the mileage or time constraints.

The air filter is a very easy DIY job as is the pollen filter, I will do both mine in a couple of months when my next annual service is due.

Brake fluid they say every two years despite mileage.

I have started using independents for work now given the age of mine and have found a decent garage locally.

I might still stick with Skoda for a major job like the timing belt/water pump and bite the bullet on cost but will weigh that up when its needed.

Cheers

Thank you for the detailed and quick reply!

Last minor service was 18 August, so time creeping up faster..

I'll defy all things normal for a bloke and also read the Manual as I think the next big service, a Major would be at 70K

Just to tie this one up:

Spoke to the garage late yesterday and have agreed to have the oil change with filter, air filter (pollen done DIY last 'service', long story that) and fuel filter.

It should have a brake fluid change now, 7 years from new (had one at 3 years and one at 2019) but the garage can test for water content and if needed it will get the change otherwise will wait for the dash to call the '70K' service up.

Cost without the fluid, £200.13, Aug 10th at my request.
