I've sold a few bikes on ebay without trouble.

Just make sure you do a very thorough listing in as much detail as you can manage and time the auction to run for 10 days covering two weekends to give buyers as much time as possible to come and look at the car.

IMHO e-bay is a quick way to sell if you need the money, but it won't be the best deal financially.

If time and/or money aren't an issue, either sell privately or trade in.

My only experience is not direct but of someone on the MX-5 Yahoo list who won an auction for a Fiat Barchetta. He then decided he didn't want it after all and lied to get out of the deal - by saying the insurance was too high. The buyer didn't seem concerend when I reported this admission to him...

I've recently nearly bid on 2 MX-5s - the one was a very rare limited edition and went for a good price, certainly higher than I was prepared to pay. The other was for a slightly less rare one - and slightly less desirable - and went for a very cheap price equivalent to a good trade-in offer, without considering the AC, hardtop, and 17" alloys that were on the car. I'd certainly have bid but decided I couldn't live with the (standard) internal and external colours.

The key is to prepare everything in advance, have a few pictures handy. I think if the auction is worded well and presented with as much detail as possible the car will reach a better price.

Be prepared and expect questions relating to the car, there should be few if you get the auction details right.
