Smelly air vents

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the procedure for attempting to stop the smell coming from the air vents? I've read stuff about spraying enzyme spray into the air vents with the fans on full but on a fabia 2 I'm not sure where the exterior air inlet is (as the pollen filter, which I changed recently, is inside the car rather than under the bonnet). I think I saw something about spraying into the passenger footwell and turning on recirculation.

Has anyone done this and can advise?

I'd think that one of the better plans is to remove the pollen filter and refit the cover, then discharge one of these "bombs" inside the car with the ventilation system set for recirc and Lo temperature with the chiller disabled - the instructions will be on the can, ECP sell a few versions quite cheaply. While you are at this task, maybe look under the water deflector - ie plastic cover in front of the windscreen to make sure that that area is clear of leaves etc.

Edit:- I'd think that the plan to remove the pollen filter is to stop it stripping the spray particles out of the air, also no chiller is to stop the spray particles condensing out of the air.

I use a professional smoke machine, with the fog-it solution in to clean my vent equipment. I also swap my pollen filter once a year. That said, I have never suffered a stink but that may be why!

Thanks, that sounds like an excellent approach and I'll give it a go once the weather's got a bit better again
