Kamiq sel, passenger seat back

Featured Replies

Only had the Kamiq sel since late January 21 , And still finding my way round it but needed to carry a few lengthy decking pieces the other day.
suprised me too find nothing to fold the passenger seat back fwd, although manual says there should be? Is everyone s  uk model like this or is it something you should spec .

Don't know if you can spec a forward folding seat or not, mine was a demo so I didn't get to spec it. In cars I've owned previously, I've pushed the front passenger seat all the way forward and then reclined the backrest all the way way down so it's levelish with the rear squab. However, you can't even do that in the Kamiq as it won't fold all the way back down.

Best advice if you need to carry long objects regularly, is to invest in a couple of roof bars.

Hi, thanks for the advice on roof rack. I don’t often carry anything that long was just caught out on this instance,  never really thought about it before with my older cars they just either reclined flat or folded fwd , guess progress in car design doesn’t always factor in the  useful ideas unless you pay extra.

This is my 1st Skoda but have noticed  little changes in my models interior design  mostly I guess as cost cutting,  things like the removable boot torch,  storage pockets on front seat bolsters all missing just wondered if the the folding seat was scrapped aswell  on that particular batch

For the OP and anyone else who might want to carry longer loads occasionally, once or maybe twice a year, both Lidl & Aldi have roof bars for sale which were £30 a pair when I saw them earlier this year.

I have a set in my garage that I've had for 11 years. They are good bars, especially for the money and for £30 it's worth keeping a set in the garage for the odd time you might need some.

Just a thought and they will fit a Kamiq.

With my Kamiq, now 13 months old, I miss the ability to have a more or less flat extended loading area as I had with my Fabia estate where the back seat cushions could be folded up or removed entirely and the rear seat backs folded down.  However, having the rear seat backs folded down in the Kamiq is better than nothing and if Skoda have discontinued this standard facility, it seems a pretty major adverse change.

Check with you dealer.

Hi the rears fold fine it was the front passenger seat I got caught out with needed a bit extra room and couldn’t find a way to fold it or recline flat in the end carried less and slid  decking between both front seats. Seems the lever in the manual doesn’t exist.

Just turn the back rest adjuster on the left passenger seat till it's flat

You will probably need to have the seat as far forward as it will go too.

See my comment above,  it doesn't fold flat. If yours does, let us know in case there's something wrong with my mechanism.

Whilst it won't bother me very often, most of my cars in the last 30/40 years have been hatchbacks and the Kamiq is the worst of them for folding seat configurations and practicality. I'm slightly dismayed at how much of a step there is between the boot floor and the rear seats when the backs are folded. It certainly seems that the Skoda cost cutting I read about a couple of years ago on this forum is coming to fruition.

Not a complaint, just an observation.

That's the nearest I can get mine to flat without starting to dismantle things.1967039204_passengerseat.thumb.jpg.6b5a523c15763fa9318ffc00af04121b.jpg

Yep same as mine then.

I just been having a muck around with my seats to see if the seat back in that position would be level with the back seats when they're folded down. to give a decent storage space at the same level, but even If I could figure out how to get the headrests out, nothing lines up. Poor show really in this day and age.

Is that a dash cam cable hanging over your hand brake ?

In a word - yes :D

Checking, my passenger front seat is the same  as yours.  I must admit I have never tried to fold it flat but assumed that it went reasonably flat as on my recent Fabia Estate.

As regards seat configurations, the Kamiq is not, of course, a hatchback but a small SUV, so we can't expect the seat configuration to be the same.

As regards the difference between t boot floor and the ;level of the back of the rear seats folded down, that is much reduced if you have the variable boot floor fitted.  (Actually, it's not so much variable as removable.)

When choosing what to replace my Fabia Estate with, I test drove both the Scala and the Kamiq and the Scala had the best boot floor/rear seat back configuration, giving a long loading area and the top of the seat back level with the boot floor if I remember right, although the seat back sloped upwards so not an entirely flat loading area.  However, I found the cabin area rather gloomy compared with the amount f light betting into the Kamiq cabin area.

I tend to disagree somewhat with that statement. I think calling it an SUV is a marketing ploy because realistically it's the same as a hatchback, just a little taller with some roof rails stuck on top to make it look more manly. There's very little difference between my Kamiq and my wifes MK8 Golf inside, but her rear seat backs fold down flatter and more level with the boot floor which makes the load space more practical.

There's no reason or excuse for making the Kamiq less practical.

Don't know if this will interest you, but I bought one of these for my dash cam   https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TV2Y6XB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It doesn't foul my knees, no cable showing, can be left live or switched off easily.  I think it's better than having cable showing and/or having it plugged into the ciggy hole or the USB C sockets on the centre console.
