Adaptive Cruise Control

Recommended Posts

Hi all

When driving in the uk like normal and using the adaptive cruise control my car slows me down if i’m about to undertake somebody.

I’m due to drive in France in a couple of weeks and because they drive on the right when I overtake the car may think I’m actually undertaking.

Does anybody know if this will cause me a problem or is the car intelligent enough to realise i’m now driving on the right side of the road.

Thanks

The car will adjust the settings automatically.

I can confirm that, have driven many times in France using ACC and it always allows me to overtake as usual even if I am on the "wrong" side now!

French motorways with ACC are bliss! (But still keep well away from any cars with a "B" sticker on ;))

Not sure how far you're going or if you're planning to hit the motorways, or whether it might be a regular thing, but if you are, have you considered an Emovis-Tag liber-t tag? This let's you drive straight through the toll barriers without stopping (dedicated lanes too). No faffing about queuing and trying to put cash or cards in on the wrong side of the car.

Costs a little to apply, a refundable deposit + a fee each month you use it (+ the tolls of course), but makes for a very smooth journey! I've made several solo trips down to Alps and beyond and think it's well worth the money.

Cheers pal. I live just 10 minutes from the Eurotunnel so I’ve had one of the tags for 5 years now. Really helpful. It’s funny watching the French hang back thinking you’ve gone in the wrong lane and then just sail through. We go down to St Tropez most years so makes the journey nice and easy.

I have also driven with ACC in Europe, I did find that the first 5-10 mins of the journey i had to prompt the ACC to allow me to pass by touching the accelerator, but once the car got used to being on the RHS it was fine. (I know the car doesn't learn, it was probably slow in recognising the GPS, but it was the best narrative for describing what happened).

And i totally agree about @B Stickers' Belgians are MENTAL!
