  1. Personally (and i appreciate others may view this differently) i would never entertain a rebuilt or replacement engine in any car, i would rather (and have) scrap a car that has had an engine failure. To my mind If the cambelt has gone it is an indicator that the car was poorly maintained and managed. In that case what other components have been neglected or abused by the previous owner. Too much risk for me.
  2. When i had my multimedia system updated by the dealership my Sinosmart camera stopped working. I had to unplug it and reconnect before it would work again.
  3. Glass replacement does not affect you NCD whether you have protection or not. It doesn't even go on the history of making a claim.
  4. Still cheaper than here <grumble grumble thieving barstewards grumble> My local supermarket fuel is £1.34 per litre for standard E10
  5. Its the 245 with DSG. I do tend to drive reasonably sedately, unless i get a rush of blood to my right foot
  6. True, i had not taken that into account, however i have seen the same degree of MPG loss over the rest of the tankful whilst using it up :). Its slightly annoying, but 42mpg on a 2L turbo petrol still isnt bad
  7. All i can contribute to this is my experience last week. Had to travel to East london last week, filled up with E5 before going - 47.8 MPG, Filled up with E10 on the return journey - 42.3 MPG. Same route, with cruise control set at 70 on dual carriageways and motorways.
  8. Corrected that for you!
  9. I did have to unplug my Sinosmart reversing camera and plug it back in to get it working again, the plug n play files needed reinstalling.
  10. I know you said that this happened whilst using a pressure washer, but that still shouldn't happen. I would still be looking for the cause of the ingress.
  11. I have 0480 on mine now that the dealership updated it, anything you would like me to check up?
  12. In the mean time, try some saddle soap and then leather food (Neat's-foot oil) to clean it up, then a sparing amount of black boot polish to bring up the colour. (Making sure to brush off and buff up with a cloth, you don't want dirty hands). I have done this before on worn steering wheels, it will never make it 'like new' but it will dramatically improve the look and feel of the steering wheel.
  13. My old 2l TDi superb used to need about a litre every 10k miles. I was doing high mileage, mostly motorway.
  14. I have also driven with ACC in Europe, I did find that the first 5-10 mins of the journey i had to prompt the ACC to allow me to pass by touching the accelerator, but once the car got used to being on the RHS it was fine. (I know the car doesn't learn, it was probably slow in recognising the GPS, but it was the best narrative for describing what happened). And i totally agree about @B Stickers' Belgians are MENTAL!
  15. Having had the Saloon version, I can confirm the the boot is CAVERNOUS. If you do have the occasional tall item, taking the parcel shelf out gives plenty of space.
  16. If you look in the Octavia IV forum, someone is having a similar issue, but it is related to the SOS and multimedia systems.
  17. Try buttons for the window switches, mine buzz, rattle and make noises when I'm driving.
  18. OK so I had the software on my head unit upgraded by the dealership yesterday while it was in for its service. From To What extra features would this have that I can enable, and how do I enable them I see people mentioning Skoda Surround, how to i get that up and running now?
  19. I think the current high used car prices it is a combination of poor feedback around the new Mk4, but mainly due to the lack of new cars in the market due to semiconductor shortages. It isn't just the Octy III that has increased in value, many other makes and models have too. The downside is that although you are getting more for the car you are selling, the price of the car you are buying will have increased as well. As a sage old car sales manager once told me (many many moons ago), it isn't the price of the car on the forecourt, or the price of the part exchange that is important, it is the price to change that hits the pocket. Of course being in positive equity on a finance deal is always a pleasant thing
  20. Do you have MAGIC pedal, my old L&K had it and when I stood close to the boot, it had a mind of its own and would open or close while I was leaning into the boot space.
  21. That's a really good shout, I have a similar issue with my vRS Octy 3, didn't consider taking the USB charger out of the ciggie lighter.
  22. The charge on the battery may be good, but check the connection on the terminal posts, make sure they are tight. Over time these can degrade and a poor connection can give starting issues as the car cannot draw enough current.
  23. It does help with supporting the boot floor insert and keeping it flat
  24. As i said happy to be corrected
