CLUTCH BITING POINT ON FLOOR NOW NO GEARS

Featured Replies

the other day I picked up my first fabia vrs 2007 se

The car has done 148k miles which I didn't think was too bad.

2 days after getting it home I started to realise how low the biting point was and that it was getting more and more difficult everyday to select a gear especially when moving.

Stationary every gear felt OK ish bit stiff but OK.

My mechanics got the car at the moment and said will start with the cheapest and do a master cylinder and brake fluid change as its black and dirty

Please help on what may be the issue and I pray I don't need a fresh gearbox?😪

That, after which, in order of probability:-

  1. Worn out clutch
  2. slave cylinder leak
  3. master cylinder leak

Checking (1) and (2) are both gearbox out jobs, and changing the one can include inspecting the other for about 10 minutes time.

Replacing (2) could cause (3) in a couple of months (based on experience).
