Superb MKiv 2021 SatNav. Issues.

Featured Replies

Anybody else having sat nav delay in starting up. My 2021 superb sometimes takes 10 minutes to start up. Last week it took 26 minutes, by which time I got to where I wanted using my phone.

Turned car off and on still not loading.

Left for a few hours and came back and it worked fine.

Also sometimes turns off completely for a few seconds before loading back up when using radio, media, sat nav etc.

hi

I have a 2020 (2021 version) Superb IV L&K.

Are you sure that it is a 2021 version.  Your photo shows the info system with real knobs.  I thought all 2021 version had gone all touch screen !

MY sat nav has lots of problems. I have a slow start up process but nothing as bad as your system.

Most of my issues seem to happen after I've been running it for at least an hour so I'm thinking maybe it could be overheating.

When it does come on does it work OK, or are you having other issues.

There are other threads on this forum about sat nav and software issues, but not the same as your problem

The more faults that we can get on this forum the better we might understand who does what to get a fix.

Please add a bit more info about your faults and what you have tried to get a fix.

Yep defo a 21 plate car. Got delivered in April this year.

Still having lag issues with it.

Never had any issues like this with my 2015 Passat.  Does still take a minute or two some times to fire up the sat nav, but most times it works and loads up within about 30 seconds. Passat used to be straight away.

Also now likes to turn itself off from time to time, and then reboot. Not good when I need to know directions. Always seems to happen when approaching a junction.

Other than that I program in where I want to go, then it gives you 15 seconds to pick which route you would like (why 15 seconds) pointless feature. At times it is still thinking about showing me the routes available after the 15 seconds have ran out. So just picks a route for me.  It's a poor sat nav in my books.

Skoda told me to take it to a dealer, but there's no software update for it yet. So don't see the point in taking it in yet.

Hi

What model superb do you have.

I see that you Nav date is March 2020 (20.3).  This is a bit of a surprise since my car was delivered from the factory in Sept 2020, with a Nav date of July 2020 (20.7).

I know that there is now a July 2021 sat nav database so you are more than a year out of date.

Does your car have an SD card reader, if so you should be able to down a later map from the Skoda web-site.

Or, do you have to use on-line map updates like me (NO SD reader).  If on-line only then you may have the same problem as me, being that nobody seems to know how to make it work.

I’ve just got a ‘21 iV demo model - with no knobs screen

etc. I’ve only had it 6 weeks but on my first long trip the system crashed. It did recover when we stopped and restarted but then it’s happened again. And the sat nav is all over the place. Should I be taking it the dealer for a software update ?

Report the problem to dealer.  See if you can get a "stay and wait" service booking so that they can check the software version and check for errors in the system log.

Not much chance of a quick fix, but it is possible that there is a known problem.

You should also report it SKODA UK customer services so that they are aware of your problem, since they may also have some other owners with the same sort of problem.  Never give up on the problem like this - it is totally unreasonable for any new car to have this sort of fundamental failure.

Booked in to dealer - I’ll report what happens

That looks odd as mine does not have any knobs and the nav DB is 22.1 so it looks like yours is not updating

Hi John

How did you get your Nav DB to be 22.1.

I had my Superb IV with the dealer for 2 weeks to try to get this done and they had no idea what to do.

Then on a another visit taking another 2 days at the dealer, "SOMETHING JUST HAPPENDED", whilst they were investigating other faults, and all of a sudden I had a later version of the NAV database.

I heard lots of "stories" about what "should" happen but not seen any evidence that the car actually ever does anything on its own, which it is supposed to do.

Just been and checked my car (9th March 2022) and without any notifications from the car my Sat Nav Database (maps) is now showing 22.1 (assume this is Jan 2022), and the Software id now updated to 0276 (previously 0270).

After 18 months of being told "it is automatic with the (paid for) Skoda Connect service", and it never having worked, it has actually happened all on its own.

Still can't get "Laura" (voice control) to understand where we want go, but I keep trying !!!

Would be great if everyone else did a check on their Sat Navs to find out if Skoda have got this working everywhere.

But remember if your car is more than 1 year old, or you have not registered for Skoda Connect, you may never get the updates because it is a paid for service -    (I had to pay £80 for the 2nd year).

I just checked mine. The sat nav is 22.1 but the software is 270 so I obviously need an update.

The nav updates do not give any alerts that they are being done. However I do get the odd warning that there is an update, the most annoying thing is it will not do it when you are moving. I have mine set to connect to my WiFi when at home, though not sure this makes any difference. As mentioned you have to ensure you pay once the car is a year old or the updates will stop.
