Not needed anymore, I've just find it out.

Perhaps you could share your wisdom for others with the same question (like me)

I had an idea! I think that the new cooled wireless charging pads could be retrofitted to our housings. The rubber cover may also need to be cut to allow the vents to operate. But the connections look identical and the shape and size does too.

This pad is from the new Passat with part number #3P0035502.

I have found an alternate option on Aliexpress which is cooled and has fast charging. It has a genuine part number to 5CG980611A and appears to operate like the genuine charger, providing notifications via the infotainment about charging status. But it does appears to lack an antenna connection, so those of you with Skoda Connect won't get the signal boost.

To get the cooling effect, you'll likely need to modify the rubber mat by putting holes in it.

I found some more info on a Russian forum with better pictures and charging tests: https://www.drive2.ru/l/667636380720956442/?page=0#comments

I think I'll buy one in the next few weeks and give it a test.

@aaaaplayI'd be interested to know too if you had any luck with the cooled charger

I've been trying to track down the new cooling mat from the facelift Octavia. However, the parts catalogue isn't available online yet.

Looking at the design of the updated rubber pad and other cooled chargers, I think that the cooling effect would be negligible without vertical channels creating an air pocket under the phone.

The other issue is that the "Phone Box" is listed as one piece, so in theory you'd need to order plastic housing to get the rubber mat.

I've also discovered coding in OBDeleven in the 5F/Multimedia Module that would enable fast charging via the "Kopplebox" aka phonebox.

Module 5F Multimedia > Adaption > Function configuration phone > Deactivated/Activated

i'm not sure if the "Kopplebox" is the charging pad or just the two port USB-C hub. But my hunch is that it is the USB ports because this MIB3 test unit sold by Volkswagen mentions having a "kopplebox without antenna" and I can't see a wireless charger anywhere on the unit. But there is a dual USB-C hub.

So in theory this coding could enable 45w charging from those ports on our pre-facelift cars. However, I can't verify if the USB hub has a new part number until the parts catalogue for the facelift is released.

I ordered the wireless charger as an option and since day one, as with everybody elses never worked. So when I get around to it will be booking in to dealers to get sorted. I did try last year but as there seemed to be no replacement available didn't follow that through, my car is just over 12 months.
