Brake Calliper Holder Advice

Featured Replies

Hello all again I'm here again with another problem in my previous topic about "Knocking Noise Coming from nearside engine bay and tracking" the knocking noise is sorted because of the briskoda members

My tracking isn't thought had it tracked for a 3rd time and two brand new front tyres tracking was a little out but not to much and it still pulled to the left i just noticed that when i brake and it starts slowing  down the steering wheel starts to shake i know this can be due to a warped discs so i bought 2 because they dont sell single and when my brother started to tighten the top bolt for the  calliper holder it wouldn't tighten  there is nothing wrong with the bolt its the socket it goes into  would cost around £150 for a new hub can the hole be re-board so a slightly bigger bolt goes in and would this pass a UK MOT my brother changed the left disc but its  only got 1 bolt holding the calliper on when i took it for a test drive the shaking had stopped but still pulls to the left  would this loose top bolt make the car pull to to the left

Thanks

Please don't drive it until it's fixed now.

You can get the hub helicoiled but it sounds like you and your brother don't really know what you're doing so it might be best done by a professional.

Is it the bolt that goes into the slide part of the carrier or the bolt that holds the carrier onto the hub?, if it's the slide pin socket you can get a replacement pin/socket but they will tell you that it's part of the carrier (around £50 on the bay)  a used one is ok to replace this bit if it's the thread in the hub you can get it fixed by using a helli-coil  insert which does not require a bigger bolt  or different thread as you have to use a hardened bolt for this job the last time my mate lost his bolt after a certain garage changed the pads i used an allen- cap bolt until he could get a new one

I had a bit about this a year or so ago where I found a decent rethreading kit for about £15.

The same type of kit can go for ten times that amount as they will charge what they think they can get away with and to answer the question, yes, it will pass an MOT.

Look up the listing below, on ebay. Fairly easy to use, if you can use spanners, jacks and drills.

This is the same kit but a little dearer by a fiver.
